When is Emby going to admit their LiveTV streaming issues aren't because of the 'providers'.

Every time someone posts there is an issue with buffering or stalling, or outright stopping, the response from emby is 'its the IPTV provider'.  I think we all know that's just not true.  When using VLC for example.

1. Channels start streaming almost immediately

2. I don't experience buffering

3. I don't experience the channel freezing

We have all been waiting for a real live tv update, it hasn't come for years, and I think most of us don't think it will ever come.  All we are asking for is some honesty and transparency.  Most of us here have purchased Emby premier...we aren't leeching on Emby's work, we've paid for it.  But for me in particular, I'm pretty exhausted from reading from Emby that live tv problems are always the provider's issues and not emby's, it's just not true.

VLC streaming appears to be quite different from Emby.

I think VLC uses m3U8 or .ts file streaming comes live, directly off the host server for whatever show.  The host decides if such streaming is permitted or not.  The host may also restrict downloading the original media files and only allow streaming playback from their server with added code that creates a key or limits a download of any files.  In others words, the streaming is allowed but downloads are limited or not allowed.  When you stream using VLC, I think you have to start all over again the second time you connect.  No file is saved locally.

I believe Emby copies the streamed media into a local copy on your server and then can transcode, as needed, for playback... all locally.   If true, then the playback with Emby is a separate file and not from the streaming host anymore.  When you stream using Emby, the media should be now local to your server, so if you stream again, you don't have to download at all anymore.  You use the local copy.

I would think that should explain that there may be differences in playback functionality.  Am I not understanding this process correctly?  I don't use this feature.

Thanks for the detailed reply.  That said I'm not sure how it refutes my point.  The local vs directly still points to the issue being with Emby

I just use the HDHomerun App for streaming app for streaming TV. No problems. The problem with Emby is that the Direct Connect actually still uses the server instead of going out to the HDHomerun device directly. I would love to see this as a feature. I have problematic OTA signals and Emby hangs constantly when the signal drops. The HDHomerun Appdoes not have this problem. VLC seems to well, but still has a few hangs.
