80srule 33 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 (edited) You can see that it’s going to YouTube, but more than not you will see that green screen, but hear the audio some movies play, but it doesn’t seem like any recent movies will. I submitted a log file from 80s rule through the app Edited November 15, 2025 by 80srule
ebr 16169 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 We're passing this off to the YouTube player here so can't see a lot. What about with the standard Android app?

Teredactle 37 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 I'm having the same problem on the Android TV app, signed up for the BETA but I don't find a way to download the beta....

Google sometimes need a bit of time to catch up, you can sideload beta app version from here.
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 I just checked the Google app store and I'm seeing 2.1.28 beta there 1

FrostByte 5392 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 It might take a little while to actually get added, you could wait or sideload like GR mentioned.
Teredactle 37 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Thanks, still not seeing it on the nVidia tube, but I sideloaded it and now trailers work!! Thank you! 1 1
MAXXFLIXS 0 Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Bump youtube now has bot verification standard this is effecting Emby ability to view trailers

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
MAXXFLIXS 0 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Hi, I’m using the current version of Emby. I’m not getting an error code the problem is YouTube now requires bot verification and be signed it for verification google android have recently just said that they are tightening their security measures so this is I imagine part of their ongoing tightening of their security. Android has also mentioned that they were removing the option to side load unsigned apps.

visproduction 315 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 I've just noticed on the web player that some trailers from youtube just don't play and if you go in and change the link in the .nfo file to a different video, the trailer button plays another video fine. With Android player, I don't think you have the option to edit the trailer link. Since it's difficult to break down what's happening at youtube. if there is possibly some embed block that a youtube user sets. I don't have a way anymore to just grab a sample problem video to look at it closely. It's hard to say what limits the playback. I am guessing that some trailers are either blocked from playing or have some odd codec and that is causing the problem. It explains why some trailers play fine and others don't. I don't think there is anything to fix other then opening up the code to allow the Emby user to change the trailer link, like you can in the web player.

I'm on the latest emby for windows and even if the "play trailer" button is present, nothing happens when i click. It just seem to flash to another "view" (where I suspect youtube is not returning the expected data) and then back. No error code, no fault message. This also happen with shows I know had working trailers previously.

I have the same problem, server on Debian, LG C4 TV's app, latest app. The trailer button is present, but when I click it flashes black and back to the UI. Do I need to login to Youtube now and if so, is it on the server (guess plugin of some kind)?

bjhille 3 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 My trailers still don't work on NVIDIA Shield. Any thoughts on when the Google store may have the update?

bjhille 3 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) Hi Luke. 2.1.23g. The Emby logo on the Shield home-screen says Emby then underneath that it says "Android TV" is smaller print. Is that the issue? Edited December 22, 2025 by bjhille
ebr 16169 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Hi. Either install the standard app ("Emby for Android") or join the Google beta program for the TV app and you will get an update that should play the trailers.
