LordVZlomka 6 Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 I have a Samsung Smart TV running Tizen OS. As I scroll through my media folders, I noticed that the scroll behavior is "jumpy" instead of smooth. Please add smooth scroll to TVs?
Luke 42077 Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 Hi, what model Samsung? This is already there but is dependent on the supported features of the TV rendering engine.

If it were the engine, wouldn't everything be affected?

Also those apps you listed are probably Samsung partner apps and therefore have access to api's that we do not.

It's not laggy or anything, just not smooth. I've attached a video. video_2025-07-15_22-48-03.mp4

AdHimself 1 Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 (edited) Hi All, Just adding my 2 cents to this. I moved from an Android based Sony TV a while ago (that had smooth scrolling) to a Samsung , and I also noticed the lack of smooth scrolling, I assumed it was down to the fact that the Samsung runs apps differently compared to an Android TV. A little while ago I also asked about long pressing to show options. (I'm not chasing for a resolution or anything, I know developing apps across multiple systems can be difficult, just posting to highlight differences between how apps run and on what). Samsung TV Model: QE50Q60CAUXXU Samsung 2023 50 Inch QLED 4K Smart TV Q60C | Samsung UK App Version: Emby for Samsung 2.1.0 Video link goes to my OneDrive as attached MP4 just wouldn't play: https://1drv.ms/v/c/f1abc97a0893fcaf/EWplt6u0mX9Got03DKvoXYEBcAPoJidCSftcmBmanKRwrw?e=mOilfa I've also attached a video so you can get a good visual as to how it looks. All the best! Edited July 18, 2025 by AdHimself Video just wouldn't play when attached to post, so uploaded it to my OneDrive.
Luke 42077 Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 @FrostBytewhat year is your model? Do you get a focus rectangle or focus scaling?
FrostByte 5392 Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Q8FN = 2018 2.1.3 On my Samsung TV it doesn't have the smooth transition either like the Android app. It just jumps between sections on the home screen. Not slow, or laggy, but it just doesn't have the same smooth sliding effect as Android. The settings menu does slide out though (doesn't just pop out). I also don't have long press which was confirmed with you using a usb keyboard awhile back.
Luke 42077 Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 We might be restricting what devices get the smooth scrolling a little too strictly, thus resulting in it only being used on the newest devices. We'll take a look at that. Thanks. 1
