luckelucke 0 Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Same problem, Emby server on Ubuntu, trying to cast from iPhone. Occasionally starts playing audio.
Luke 42077 Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 @luckelucke Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
luckelucke 0 Posted July 16, 2025 Author Posted July 16, 2025 Sure, What happens is this: I open the Emby app on my iPhone, go to Live-TV and start playing a channel. Everything works fine so far. Channel works etc. I then press the casting icon on the top-right and select "Livingroom" (My Chromecast device) My TV (Chromecast) then goes black and loads for a sec, until it shows the Emby logo with the text "Ready to Cast" Meanwhile this is happening on the TV, the iPhone screen changes from playing the media to going black but with controlls (Pause, +-10sec etc) and showing the default channelname/media name at the bottom, settings etc. Although the timebar doesnt change, it just freezes. After this nothing happens if you wait. I've tried waiting 5-10minutes to see if there is some buffering, but nope. After this happens, the client freezes. I cant press pause for example. I can go back though, and when doing that and trying to replay the channel, it just flickers and does nothing. Also, i've noticed that it causes a broken session, when going to the admin/control panel in Emby, i can see my username playing the channel i tried casting. And even though i turn off the tv and tries to play something else on the phone, It still stays there. I must cancel it from the control panel or turn off the app/change user for it to stop. Some things I've tried to narrow it down: I have tried both with the M3U player and using HDHomerun (Threadfin). Same results. It is also the same for playing a livestream or playing a VOD from the M3U. Casting from my local media works, ie, casting a locally stored movie from my Emby server, using the iPhone Emby app to my TV (running chromecast) So the issue is somewhere in the Live-tv area. I have tried using the IPTV plugin in the catalog. Same results. Playing the M3U stream from the Emby app installed on the chromecast works fine. Going into casting mode before selecting channel yields same result. Forcing transcode from the app (ie selecting a super low resolutions) yields same result. Please get back to me if there is anything else or something that is unclear and need further explanation. Embylog Casting.txt

Nothing else is showing under Emby Server -> Logfiles.
