Hey I would like to request that you add the option to enable and disable the "show poster on the detail screen" option in display for the collections detail screen. Is it possible in the near future?

Hi, don’t we have this already?

Yes, but this only applies to TV shows and movies and not collections.

Emby Web:
Collection poster / 3 dots / edit Images /

Then remove or add any background you like.

I know of course how to use the app and add or edit photos. You didn't understand what I said. There is an option in the display section in preferences to enable or disable the poster that is shown in the detail screens of TV shows and movies. It just doesn't apply on collections poster and there is no way to enable or disable it.

Adam,
Ok, that explanation is more detailed, thanks.  The request is to have second way to turn collection backdrop images off and make the option do all collections, at once.
Well, fine.  The ability to do that already exists for one collection at a time, so this is an extra single toggle or pull down menu option that doubles up a feature that already exists.

What happens to the backdrop images when the switch is turned off? Do they still appear in the edit image screen?  How are users told that this screen is no longer valid and the user must turn back on the master switch?  Do the images just get deleted?  Wouldn't some users be upset with this?  Does an alert warning need to be put in the Collection Edit Images screen that informs the user that the master switch is off?  Wouldn't some users complain that there are confusing methods to turn on or off the backdrops for Collections?

It seems like there are a lot of questions if you add an option that contradicts an existing feature.  Apparently, this already works for all backdrops to media pages.  I think that is probably not such a great idea either.  Offering software that does contradicting features is sort of like planning for the software to fail and people to leave.  That's just my opinion.

I think you still didn't understood me. All I'm asking is for the option that disables the poster shown on detail screen will also apply on the collection section. I'm not talking about the backdrop option but a different option that you can only control from the emby web client. I've marked what I would like to be hidden in the collection section.

Yes, that's what I was reffering to. It only applies to movies or shows and not collections. It just looks odd that my entire library looks like this but only the collections section works in a different manner, so obviously I want it sorted out.

Adam,

Aha.  Sorry, I confused your request.  Perhaps I needed to read the details more closely.   The poster does disappear on Emby Web when the browser width is < 800px,  Try making your browser narrow to see this change.

For Emby web this adjustment is possible with custom CSS.  The feature request is valid to just turn them all off.  I have to wonder how often anyone has asked for this.

You're right it does change in Emby Web and also on the mobile Emby version. Unfortunately I mainly use the Emby app from smart TVs so this doesn't really solve it. Will it be possible to make the collection menu not to ignore this setting in the future or make a separate toggle option for collections only?

It escapes me at the moment but there is a reason why collections weren't included in this option. But a separate similar option for collections might make sense.

Any chance while you are tinkering with this you can look look at having this setting not remove episode images when tuned off/on.

Looks so weird without the episode image. I would 100% use this if it didn't remove those images.
