ginjaninja 605 Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 @Angelblue05 When asking Emby to play musc, if there is an error eg "No Media Found, Filetype not copatible with device" might it be possible to keep the Emby session open, so another emby skill command can be issued straight after..ie the device is waiting for the response.. (without having to invke the skill again). If ive asked Emby to play something, chances are i still want it to play something if the command is unsuccessful. Indeed can the session stay open after every command until closed. ie Alexa "ask m.b home" "Emby" "Play the song XYZ" "Requested media can not be found" "Play the song PQR" Thanks for considering.
Luke 42077 Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 @ginjaninjawhat do you mean by session? What if you try the same command again right after that?

Hi @Luke, [preamble] When playing music...chances are i'm in a 'playing music mood'. I wonder what can be done to make interacting with the emby [music] skill as easy as possible. Its not like a movie or tv show where you are issuing 1 command every 30 minutes+ ..its much more crucial that commands are easy and acurate (maybe even 'with clever algorithms for interpretation') for music imo because of the frequency (every 3 mins?) Might it be possible to keep the Alexa in an Emby skill ready state...so every command is presumed to be a command to the emby skill? the round trip time on "ask m.b home" taking into account response time and acuracy of detecting the skill name is not 'attractive' imo. The accuracy in detecting "ask m.b home do xyz" is very bad for me (50% accurate unless i really slow down and articulate everything S.L.O.W.L.Y)) The accuracy of 2 commands "ask m.b home" and "do xyz" is better. I guess the real improvement is to improve the recognition of the skill name... am i the only person who has a problem with the skill name detection? I should add the alexa has very little poblem with shopping list items or song names....it is specifically the intonation of "M.B Home" that is prone to error. my guess is that "EM" is not a very certain sound....too close to "EN" perhaps...or morelikey the M is too soft (in my accent).
