newyorker 11 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 How can I disable automatic tagging when scraping metadata from third-party sources? I prefer to add tags manually myself. Is that even possible?
Luke 42078 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 HI, can you please give an example of what you're seeing? We generally don't import anything into Tags.

Hi @Luke, I didn’t create any of these tags — they were automatically generated when scraping metadata from TMDB. I don’t want these tags at all, as I prefer to create and manage my own. Is there any way to disable this automatic tagging?
Luke 42078 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 HI, this is not true about Tmdb. The server does not import tags from Tmdb. Do you have nfo files in your tv folders?

Do you have nfo files in your tv folders? Thanks for the clarification. I assumed this was Emby’s default behavior, but if that’s not the case, it might be caused by a plugin I installed. I’ll look into it further. Just to confirm — Emby automatically imports genres, but it doesn’t auto-import tags, correct?

Tags were designed to be a user-defined feature, hence the internet metadata providers do not import them. At least not the ones built by the core emby team.
