playingbball20 0 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 (edited) I was asked by my friend why he couldn't log into Emby, he only uses Emby Connect. He told me he logged in like he did with his other tv which worked fine. It has been a few months since he logged into his other tv. I went to look at the user and there was no Emby Connect email attached to the user. I added the email back and selected save. Then I received the error message: There was an error adding the Emby Connect account. Have you created an Emby account? Sign up at https://emby.media/connect. I was about to tell him to send an email however, I was told by another friend that he couldn't log in either. I checked all of my users and all of the Emby Connect emails are not there. I am not sure what to do?! Edited July 8, 2025 by playingbball20
Abobader 3464 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 Hello playingbball20, ** This is an auto reply ** Please wait for someone from staff support or our members to reply to you. It's recommended to provide more info, as it explain in this thread: Thank you. Emby Team
Luke 42077 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
darkassassin07 652 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 Woah! NEVER post a link like that, including an api key and the url to your server. You just gave the public open access to your entire server. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE THAT API KEY FROM YOUR SERVER IMMEDIATELY!!! post reported so an admin will hopefully purge that post quickly
darkassassin07 652 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 4 minutes ago, playingbball20 said: I'm on my phone at work. I can't edit it delete that post The admins will remove it as soon as they see the reports. You need to go into your server dashboard, head to api keys, and delete that api key ASAP. Your server is severely at risk for as long as that key is valid.
darkassassin07 652 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 The api key you posted is still valid. Ensure you have deleted it, and restart the server to make sure it takes effect.
playingbball20 0 Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 I rebooted Emby. Not showing any API keys
darkassassin07 652 Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 IDK what to tell you unfortunately. That key is still valid and working, which means it can be used to do pretty much anything a server administrator could do. This is a pretty major issue that the developers will have to address, I don't know how/why a key would be valid but not displayed in the api keys list, unless it was perhaps extracted from a users login token. I would shut down the server for now or disable remote access (remove your port forwarding) until that can be addressed. I don't have another solution for you. Unfortunately it's 11pm PDT and the devs+most of the regulars around here will be in bed. You will have to wait for help/a response.
playingbball20 0 Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 Ok, thanks. Hopefully I can get an answer to the actual question tomorrow. Thanks
playingbball20 0 Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 Well I was able to fix the API issue, was logged in at 2 locations. I had created a PDF of that log I am uploading. temp8510816397821003657.PDF

In the log above, we have the server public IP address of the server in the content of the HTML page returned by Cloudflare for Open Subtitles (difficult to clean as we don't know the content of the page, so I suggest filtering out anything resembling an IP address) : xxx.xx.xxx.xxx We also have a user's public IP address: Quote 2025-07-08 01:04:42.085 Warn ConnectService-0HNDL94VBS7VO:00000004: AUTH-ERROR: xx.xx.xxx.xx - Access token is invalid or expired. Sign up at https://emby.media/connect. There were issues in the past with backup and restore - these should now be resolved. Was there perhaps a restore from backup made at some point that may have resulted he loss of the link? The local user account Emby Connect link should only be removed now if a restore is done with the option to "Restore Server ID" unticked - which would be the case for restoring into a separate brand new server
playingbball20 0 Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 If I did a restore it was quite a while ago. How do I fix the issues of everyone not having the Emby Connect emails able to be put back into their user account?

Login with the emby connect account you are trying to fix and go to the select server screen - from change server. Delete all linked servers showing Then go back to the server settings user account and re-link
playingbball20 0 Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 I do not have their login information for that user. Can I do the delete the server info from my end since I am the admin?

You can only remove your server from their Emby Connect account, but in this case you can't given the issue above. I would just send them a message and ask them to do it.
playingbball20 0 Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 Ok, thank you. So once they remove the server, then I can just re add the Emby Connect email address to their user?

playingbball20 0 Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 I am bringing this back to life unless I need to start a new thread. I was only able to get 2 people back on to emby connect using this method. I tried yesterday with my user and I could not get it to work. I had others not work, but I was not with them when they tried. Is there a manual way to remove the emby connect manually via command-line or any method?

If you have a problem deleting servers from your own emby connect account, then we can have a look at that The steps were that you login with your emby connect account and then on the select server screen, click on the "..." and click on "Forget This Server" and then Confirm This can be done on the http://app.emby.media or https://app.emby.media page The server will disappar from the Select Server screen Then you login locally on the server using the local username and local password and select settings, users, edit the user account an remove the emby connect email address and save
