apollumi 2 Posted June 30, 2025 Posted June 30, 2025 I'm putting some training videos (for myself) into a folder and I want to apply the same image to each. Is there an easy way apply a single "image.jpg" without having to apply it to 22 videos individually. Can I apply it once to all videos and only have a single ".jpg" in the folder?

These are not movies but simply no name h.264 videos. I have been making an image in GIMP and putting that on all of the videos but if you have 30 or so videos that becomes tiresome. apollumi 2 Posted June 30, 2025 Author Posted June 30, 2025 It became necessary for me to bug somebody here recently because of my move to Emby on a Docker container. Previously I ran Emby on a Debian VM. I store the image content and nfo files in the folders. I had spent hours customizing my meta data and images but did a docker compose down and then back up because of work with another Docker container and poof, all of that work went bye bye. Turns out it was a permissions issue on the content folders. Still trying to figure that out but I don't want my changes to vanish again until I do.
apollumi 2 Posted June 30, 2025 Author Posted June 30, 2025 Probably should state that cleaner. I want a single image in a folder to apply to all of the videos in the folder.
Luke 42078 Posted July 1, 2025 Posted July 1, 2025 Have you tried just adding an image to the folder using folder.jpg?
apollumi 2 Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 That adds the image to the folder above the files. How do I use a single image in a folder to apply to all of the videos in the folder?

I was just trying to offer something in case it might be close enough.
apollumi 2 Posted July 2, 2025 Author Posted July 2, 2025 Might have to move this thread to Linux forum. After thinking about assigning 100 of the same images to individual video files I decided to see if a "link" would work. It did. Yay!! So I set a "background" image to the parent folder which showed up as fanart.jpg in this case and them made a linux script to link to that image. All 100 videos now have the same image. My mini script below. It uses parameter expansion. for fln in *mp4;do ln -s ./fanart.jpg "${fln/mp4/}jpg";done This beat the #%$@ out of doing all 100 vids manually. Less than a second for me to run. 1
