musicmafia 38 Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Hello to all the good people of Emby! Occasionally I run into the same playback issue, where the playback seems to hiccup and appears slightly jittery, most noticeable in motion scenes. It's only a small percentage of files that have this playback issue. I can't seem to find any connection between them. Some are 1080 and some are 4K. They play fine in VLC but not Emby. I am trying to find a common thread, so I know what to look for or avoid when acquiring files. I am using version 4.8.11.0 via PC and playback is on newer Sony TV with Emby and Emby Android TV apps. First screenshot is stats from TV using Android TV app. (I tried via other Emby app and playback was even worse). Second screenshot is stats from PC playback via browser. Thanks for your help with identifying the issue.
pwhodges 2012 Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 I'm wondering why the bit rate goes from 26mbps to 39mbps with just a change of container and no video transcoding... Paul 1
Luke 42077 Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
musicmafia 38 Posted June 27, 2025 Author Posted June 27, 2025 I think the relative part starts around here: 2025-06-24 21:31:33.596 Info SessionManager: Playback start reported by app AndroidTv 2.1.23g on SONY XR-55A90J playing A Complete Unknown. 6-24-25embyserver-63886406400.txt
Luke 42077 Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Is it mainly an issue with high bitrate content?

Yes, the problem exists, but only with a small percentage of my movies. I usually end up just getting rid of the files and just starting over with a new file. I would certainly like to know what is causing this, so I could know what to look for (or what to avoid) when acquiring movie files. Did any of the info I posted previously help ID the problem?
