x265/HEVC play too fast on Android App on Chromebook

Hi I stumbled upon this post as I am also having the same issue. I am running the latest server stable version 4.8.11.0. The video is playing faster than usual and the play speed is 1x. What I find strange is that it doesn't happen when streaming in local LAN. It only happens when streaming remotely from a Chromebook, the video would play twice as fast as it should. I don't have 4K videos, just x254 1080p videos. I don't have the debug log yet as I did not turn it on when it happened.

When there is a chance I will attach the debug log here.

Hi @Lukethe title is incorrect. I have issues with x264 1080p medias and not HEVC. Here I have the logs from the server.

As for the app's log I am yet to obtain them. When I am with my family I will upload the log from the Emby app. Thanks in advance.

Username is Celine and the playback occurred at 2025-06-25 20:41:28.

Can you try reverting your diagnostic options and see if that helps?

>>>>>> DIAGNOSTIC OPTIONS ACTIVE !!!
Warning TranscodingOptions.DisableHardwareSubtitleOverlay: Original: True Actual: False
Warning CommandLineOptions.SearchText: Original: Actual: 384000
Warning CommandLineOptions.ReplaceText: Original: Actual: 640000

I uninstalled the plugin and the result is still the same.

Too bad I did not have the chance to upload the debug log from the app. Once I have the chance I will post it here.

OK that would be great, thanks.

Hi I finally got the Emby app for Android's log on Chromebook, pls see attachment. I also attached the server debug log. I was playing a show and it played way too fast. The username is Celine.

I tried the Emby version for Android TV, it runs well without any issues. Very strange.

Hope you can find anything unusual. If you need more details please let me know!

Thanks in advance.

Just curious if you have made any headway towards finding a cause/solution/workaround? Just installed the emby app from the playstore on an HP Chromebook and seem to be seeing the same thing. Some movies play fine. Other movies play at least twice as fast as they should.

EDIT; Thought it worth mentioning I found the same movies play at the correct speed on the Chromebook when opened via the web browser. That does offer a workaround but would still love to see the app working. It seems much slicker and smoother than through browser access.
