psorrf 0 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I have installed Version 3.0.5031.21343 of the MediaBrowser 3 server onto my Windows 8.1 box. It is reporting as up to date and Running on port 8096. After some reading I noticed some reports of port 8945 needing to be forwarded so I believe I have successfully enabled that on my router, even though the dashboard still only states port 8096. I downloaded, and paid for, the Windows Phone 8 client and installed it. Whenever I add the host name to the app for the server connection details I receive the message "Connection details are invalid, please try again". Could someone please explain the correct format for entering the hostname, as it doesn't seem to matter what I add, I always receive the same error. Thanks.
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What are you putting in as the hostname? If you like, email me the log files. So when you try and connect and it gives you the error, tap the appbar and choose email logs. I'll take a look for you.
psorrf 0 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks for the response, I appreciate the assistance. I had tried the name of the host machine, it's IP address and neither appeared to work. Tapping email logs didn't produce anything. I persisted with entering the host machine name and it eventually connected, but crashed out while I was trying to adjust personal settings. Seems fairly hit and miss as I reopened the app and it said the connection details were invalid again. After a couple more tries it allowed me to select a server and accepted the IP address. The app will either go straight to my collection when opening or stall at the connection details now. Once connected it doesn't seem capable of playing any video past the 1 minute mark and produces and error about being unable to load the file.
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I just tried tapping email logs, and that brings up what email account I want to send from. Are you trying to connect over wifi? The app falls back to the connection details if it has a problem connecting to the server when it first loads up, sort of like a "has something changed?"
jbucy 0 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Hello, I am experiencing this exact same problem trying to connect my Windows Phone 8 device to my Media Browser 3 server. It keeps telling me that the host is invalid and I cannot get it to connect at all. I am connect over WiFi only for now. I can connect with my Surface RT with no problems. Is there any configuration that needs done for the WP8? I tried configuring port forwarding on my router with no luck.. Thanks, John
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If the hostname works in win8, it should work on the phone too. When you try and connect again, if you get the same problem, can you send me the logs (tap on the appbar > send logs)
jbucy 0 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Hi. Thanks. I tried sending the logs but nothing appeared to happen so not if it emailed them or not...
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Hi. Thanks. I tried sending the logs but nothing appeared to happen so not if it emailed them or not... You'd know if it had, it would have taken you to the email client. Can you try restarting your phone and trying again?
jbucy 0 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Thanks, I tried again and it worked. You should have the log..
