Emby Can't find metadata for a movie but it's on IMDB

In this case a 2025 movie titled "Fatal Identity" It's literally on IMDB... so I copy the IMDB ID, edit metadata in Emby, paste the ID under IMDB in emby, search and it finds nothing...

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32559661/

Am I correct in that the code that should be played in the IMDB field under "edit metadata on Emby" should be tt32559661? I've done this before and it worked but just not in this case. Thanks

To be clear, the scanner finds the movie just NOT the metadata

Emby does not use IMDB for metadata. What metadata providers do you have enabled and in what order? Is this title on any of those sites?

Doesn't appear to exist on TMDB or TVDB yet.

You will need to ensure you have OMDB enable on the library for it to fetch what little data they do have.

Fatal Identity — The Movie Database (TMDB)

Fatal Identity - TheTVDB.com

To a point all that exists is Cast/Crew same as shown on IMDB but OMDB will not list all cast.

OMDB

As mentioned IMDB is never used directly as they want too much to use their api.  The id will be queried per your Library metadata order.

AWS Marketplace: IMDb Essential Metadata for Movies/TV/OTT (Bulk data)

So currently one would have to manually apply info until someone added this to TMDB/TVDB.

Yes it's new... and I understand when a new movie comes out (especially non-theatrical movies) it can take some time to get into their systems... I wasn't sure about IMDB and that using their ID would or wouldn't work...the poster was there and the description. Good to know. I've manually added it myself. I was just wondering why when I put the IMDB ID absolutely nothing showed.... Now I know why.

Thanks

So are we saying that a folder named Fatal Identity (2025) [imdb-tt32559661] with the movie in that folder would not find the info correctly? I guess I did not know that Emby did not use imdb! That would be disappointing!

It means the IMDb id will be recorded into your server database for that item, but actual metadata downloading will still occur based on your library options.

Putting the IMDb id in the folder name will usually help the metadata downloading produce a more accurate result.

but this is unexpected and incomprehensible because no one remembers what fetchers are configured in the library, but every time they see it in the imdb in manual identification.

it's better to add some tooltips. furthermore the identify and search form is not very clear and usable at this moment and need full rework I think.

Yes, you put the correct IMDB code, it's tt32559661. If Emby can't find anything, it's probably because the title is too recent and not yet available via their metadata source. Maybe we have to wait a bit or enter the information manually.

Fatal Identity is on TMDB, but with virtually no information yet (not even the year, so telling Emby the year might actually prevent it being found!).  Presumably this entry will soon get updated by someone (it could even be you!), and then Emby will be able to pick it up:

PS - I added the date and a poster, but nothing more.

I went ahead and made an entry for the movie in TVDB.

Had to pull some description and other info from other websites.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Added the movie poster. TVDB ID is 367800.

New addition.

I've tried to add movies on TMDB in the past and it's always been a big fat fail for me because I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to poster sizes...getting the correct posters, etc... so I ultimately just give up
