Richard Branches 330 Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 Question out of topic: How can I customize the DLNA server? I test it with the Onkyo receiver and it goes great, however, since the receiver only plays audio, I don't want to see the rest of video libraries, but I haven't found a way to hide those and just leave the music library.
Luke 42077 Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 @Richard Branchesin dlna server options you select the user you want to portray the library based on, and then the library display will be based on that user.
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 17, 2025 Author Posted June 17, 2025 Hello, so I see the below screenshot where I select the user: And then I see the "Profiles" tab with some system profiles and the ability to create a new one but there's a bunch of options unknown for me, I imagine I just have to create a profile for the receiver or that isn't necessary, correct?:
Luke 42077 Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 You could do that if you need something specific for a particular device.
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 17, 2025 Author Posted June 17, 2025 What I want is to hide the video libraries and keep the music library visible.

Richard Branches 330 Posted June 17, 2025 Author Posted June 17, 2025 How do I create a custom profile for the receiver? What options do I have to use?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 7 minutes ago, Richard Branches said: How do I create a custom profile for the receiver? What options do I have to use? What profile is your device using per your server log now? But you will want to enable DLNA debug logging to capture some device info and click on the profile it is currently using and modify it with custom info and give it a different name and save.

I will try that then.
Luke 42077 Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 @beckfieldhad written a great posting about this. Do you recall where that was?

Luke 42077 Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 @Richard Branchesplease follow that and see if you're able to get a profile created. Thanks.
beckfield 173 Posted June 18, 2025 Posted June 18, 2025 (edited) One thing not covered in that process write-up: @Luketold me the following: Quote Currently supported media types does not change what is presented to the device. We probably should, but that doesn't happen right now. In the meantime, the only way to do this would be to create a separate user that only has access to the audio libraries, and then in your new dlna profile, set that user as the user library to be displayed. This will achieve what you want, albeit with the drawback that anything you play won't be reflected in the user data of the user that you normally use. Pursuant to that, in addition to the custom DLNA profile, I created a new User on my Emby server: When creating that user, I think I left every setting at the default on the first tab (Profile), other than giving it a name. The important stuff is on the "Access" tab, where you select the libraries this user will have access to. Then I used this user to connect the DLNA device to the Emby server. This is what will determine which libraries are displayed on your DLNA device. Edited June 18, 2025 by beckfield 1
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 18, 2025 Author Posted June 18, 2025 Hello folks! Thank you so much for helping me with this, but today has been a busy day for me and I haven't had the time to follow the instructions, I will do that as soon as I can!.
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 19, 2025 Author Posted June 19, 2025 So I enabled DLNA debug logging and then I played a song but I don't see anything helpful about the profile of the receiver in the server log, please take a look: embyserver.txt
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 19, 2025 Author Posted June 19, 2025 I just don't see anything about the receiver's profile anywhere in the log: DLNADOC/1.50, Accept-Ranges=bytes, Cache-Control=private, no-transform, ETag="f12286d483057d9b7b120f9b30ff166c", Content-Length=145653080, Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy=cross-origin, Private-Network-Access-Name=RDRB, Private-Network-Access-Id=d6b61a1d80d64a1eb52b3a5b137505b8
Richard Branches 330 Posted June 19, 2025 Author Posted June 19, 2025 (edited) I wonder if those instructions are tailored to personalize the DLNA server when using the Emby app to push the content from the DLNA server to the receiver instead of accessing the DLNA server directly from the receiver which is what I have been doing. Richard Branches 330 Posted June 19, 2025 Author Posted June 19, 2025 I enabled debug on both the server and DLNA and I still don't see what to look for in that log: embyserver.txt

Richard Branches 330 Posted June 20, 2025 Author Posted June 20, 2025 Now that you mention, there are three smart TVs in the house which sport a DLNA feature plus the receiver, do you see the four in the log?
beckfield 173 Posted June 20, 2025 Posted June 20, 2025 (edited) Don't just play a song. I don't think that will create the log entry you need. Turn the receiver off, then on, and let it establish connection with the Emby server. Grab the log file after that. Edited June 20, 2025 by beckfield 1
