muzicman0 84 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) I am using Native mode (so it honors EDL files), and just updated last night to 12.4.7, and this morning to 12.4.8 (previously on 12.3.8 I believe) and it seems in both of those versions playback isn't being sync'd. By that I mean I watch part of a show, exit Kodi, and when I come back in it doesn't remember where I left off. I am on Kody 21.2. Happy to provide logs, but not sure how to get them off of my Android TV device. [EDIT] It only seems to happen on multi-version videos (i.e., when I have a 1080p and a 4k version) Edited January 31 by muzicman0 More info 1

I wish there was a way to get the other mode (not sure what it is called...non-native) to work with edl files. It would solve multiple issues for me, but commercial skipping is a requirement for the WAF. The EDL plugin that Emby has isn't adequate either since nothing shows on the timeline.

Maybe I can load only the edl files native in addon mode. Actually, should be possible.

What do you mean when you say the sync is not working? The progress upsinc was working, I checked that on a multiversion movie.

I checked on 2 different movies that I have that have a 1080p and a 4k version. I jumped to a spot later in (say the 24 minute mark) and then stop playback. Then I exit out of Kodi. When I open Kodi, playback starts from the beginning, not at the 24 minute mark. If I do the same thing with a non multi format movie or TV show, it works as expected. I do not have auto select version enabled, so when I choose a multi version movie, I have to choose the version. If that matters. Edited January 31 by muzicman0

Especially this question confuses me. You asking if progress is up-synced? This is one of the main functions of the plugin. Thank you, my bad. For some reason, at first, one movie showed progress in kodi but did not do it in Emby. Additionally, that was the only that I had with progress at that time. I tested more after your reply and it works as it should. One thing I noticed: the chapter / bookmarks image extraction does not work in my installation. I have enabled the functionality in kodi settings and I also checked that the substitute block is in my advancedsettings.xml file. Still kodi / CoreELEC does not extract chapter images. I already reset the local database but it didn't help. What might be the problem? Additionally I noticed that the playlist images are not visible in kodi side but I guess they are not supposed to be. Right?

If that matters. Ok, checking. fyi, Multiversion episode works totally different, as Kodi has no support for that. Episode selection is done by the plugin (workaround), while for movies, the plugin uses Kodi's function. Also Kodi keeps track of each version individually, while Emby doesn't. Maybe the issue is related to that, could be also an issue with the start sync. btw. did you exit Kodi while the movies was pause or really stopped? That's a difference. Right? This only works if you change the "Webservice mode" to dav or "Path substitution" but you will lose the transcoding functionality. Both is currently not possible due to Kodi limitations. I recommend "dav". Also keep in mind, the progress depends on (Emby) user accounts. If you use different accounts, the progress is different. Edited February 1 by quickmic 1
quickmic 1703 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 New PUBLIC TESTING version available 12.4.9: Delta changelog 12.4.8 -> 12.4.9 update Chinese language fix multiversion movie progress sync
Andy2k 75 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Hi, i tried testing the latest testing version 12.4.9, but i got some sync problems.kodi.log Test System: 2x Windows PC with Kodi 21.3 64bit. Emby Server Beta 4.10.0.2 (witch causing the problems i guess....) After updateing to 12.4.9 i need to restart kodi to get the database reset query. After another restart E4K start syncing with the server. Persons, Tags and Studios works, but syncing stops at the 1. movie. Deleting the addon settings manualy, removing the databases, setting the addon to defaults does not help. Also after a factory reset 12.4.9 not showing me my Emby-Server by name, i had to add him manualy by ip adress. finaly i cant select some of the libraries, i can only select "all". Log with e4k debug below, cleaned from most person, studios, tags... 1
Andy2k 75 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Another problem i saw with 12.3.8, on different systems (mainly corelec 21.3) E4k does not respect the subtitle setting in Kodi. For all (synced) content i have to switch subtitles off and on again during playback to get subs working. In this case the episodes had forced (german) internal subs... Playing this episodes nativ from network file system (Kodi is only player) subtitle settings works as expected.

Andy2k 75 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 works, thx. But the subtitle problem is still there, same as 12.3.8... 1

Subtitle debugging is always a pain in the A.There are so many options possible and each one must be tested...
Andy2k 75 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 thank you. At least i can only say my kodi settings are "forced only", language same as gui (its a CE setting i guess). Works on local, nativ non synced files, but the same file/episode does not start showing subs when its synced with emby / e4k. switching subs off and on during playback wil show it. at least tested with some internal subs... 1
muzicman0 84 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 BTW, @quickmicdid you know the link for the latest version in the first post is broken? it should be https, not http.
muzicman0 84 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I tested the .10 version, and no change for me on multi-version movies remembering playback position.

Here is what I do exactly: Open Kodi, and what for the welcome banner (E4K) to go away. Open my Movies Library This is mapped to a sync'd library in Emby named 'Movies' Select the movie '65' (I have also tested with 'Free Guy') Select the 4k version Once it is playing, I jump to a point a few chapters in Stop playback (yes, I am stopping, not pausing) exit back to home screen of Kodi exit Kodi to home screen of Android TV Wait a few seconds then relaunch Kodi Again, wait for the welcome banner to go away Open the Movies Library Select the movie '65' Select the 4k version it starts playing from the beginning instead of where I left off. I appreciate you looking into it!
muzicman0 84 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 So I did another test that instead of playing in Kodi, I played from Emby in a web browser. Then checking in Kodi. It picked up the updated position just fine that way. So I played in Kodi again, checked my Emby server, and the position isn't updated. So ultimately, I don't think it is a startup issue, but for some reason it's not updating my Emby server after (or during) playback of the new resume position. Not sure if I am explaining that correctly. Hope it makes sense.

However, this doesn't mean there might be another issue, probably only in native mode. I'll check again.
