No, it did not change and was never different. The plugin uses the date info from server and has actually nothing to do with sort settings on your emby server unless the server changes the metadata (which I hope is not the case).

I think I see why its different after the update.  Not sure why its this way though but every version I've tried recently had this issue and I had to revert back.

I opened up the database to take a look at the dataAdded field in the files table.   Before the update it was populated with dates.  After the update (and a database reset) the dates are all set to 0.  So this affects the sorting.

I will try do a full reset and see if it fixes it when it rebuilds the db.

yeah i see - but i has to be a correlation with the newer addon versions, never had such behaviour with beta 12.3.8

All I can recommend for the moment is a re-installation of the plugin. The missing file is not the only problem I see. Also the settings cannot be loaded.

You can also send me a kodi.log straight after sync. If the dates are all to zero, this might still be an issue with the datetime parsing.

i am switching back to beta 12.3.8 and provide new logs for comparison

But this time the kodi.log looked way better. I can see you played a file. Alien.Romulus.2024.German.EAC3.DL.2160p.UHD.BluRay.HDR.DV.HEVC.REMUX-JJ.mkv

Also you use path substitution in addon mode, Try http which is the default and actually should be used after a factory default. However, I don't think this is the actual issue here.

@quickmicI've updated from 12.3.8 to 12.4.6 and "Recently added episodes" under TV shows has disappeared.  Using the default Kodi skin (Estuary)

Sounds also a bit like the timedate issue. Same you you, can you send me a kodi.log right after a re-sync?

made another hard reset and go with 12.3.8
addon default mode (addon) and http
sync and playback is no problem (wasn't with 12.4.6 either)
only difference is - shut down/reboot/restart kodi is executing instant without problems
maybe it has to do something with the local db generated from the sync? are there differences between 12.3.8 and 12.4.6?
unfortunately i have no other idea yet...
thank you for your time

2026-01-27 17:28:32.124 T:16692   error <general>: EMBY.helper.utils: convert_to_local Error: Invalid isoformat string: '2023-04-26T23:00:00.0000000Z'

You are using Kodi 21 (with <= python3.10). Seems that's the problem, as Kodi 22 uses a new python version supporting this format.

ok, so the only issue, you cannot stop/restart Kodi. Everything else is fine?

If so, I need a debug log. A task ist hangin, usually not a big deal.

I came to share my log and noticed that same error.  Tried the new version you just posted and its working great again.  So I believe this is now fixed for me.  :)  Thanks again.  Will continue to play with the latest versions.

hi, this time i removed/uninstalled the 12.3.8 addon and installed 12.4.7.
i chose addon (standard) mode and http
when i started to sync - the system froze/hung immediately
this is the latest log

are there any downsides of using addon mode/http instead of path substitution/direct paths?
maybe skipping/fast forward and stop/play reacts faster with direct paths?
thank you

That's not the debug log for the addon, it's Kodi's debug log. You need to enable it plugin's config menu -> advanced.

Really not sure what's the problem on your setup. Currently you are the only user reporting this issue. Did you try it on a stock Kodi installation (probably on a PC).

I run this version on libreelec, osmc, my Linux laptop (flatpak), on a Windows PC and on my Android phone. No device had such issues. As I have zero pattern at the moment, you need to start with a stock installation. I'm quite sure, this would run straight. Something must be different which causing the issues you have.

General info. The last version has at least one issue when closing progress bar. Will be fixed in next version, it's only an (annoying) visual issue.

no its a fresh basic install on a ugoos sk1 with latest ce-no nightly
as mentioned before... no problems with beta 12.3.8 addon, but with any newer version

You take for granted, that coreelec is bugfree and the plugin is the issue as it worked in 12.3.8.

In 12.4.X are massive changes mainly giving Kodi more resources (cpu/yields) back. As a vague theory, this could raise side effects if the underlying Kodi is buggy. I can tell you there is at least one bug in coreelec.

/usr/share/kodi/addons/service.coreelec.settings/service.py): waiting on thread 545821224352

This can be also the reason, Kodi is not stopping/restating properly. That's a hanging task from coreelec.

Sorry to say, but currently I cannot confirm/reproduce that issue on any device.

ok, anyways - thank you for your effort
maybe this error is gone with future builds of ce-no, but their forum is read only for now.
i have to try it on other devices too, i'm testing osmc vero v, am6b plus, sk1 and am9pro in a few days...
