embyforkodi (next-gen) 12.X.X support

Figured it out. I had to install 12.38 and it worked fine.

If I want to update to 12.4, do I just download and copy over to my device and install from zip file or will that not work?  I find the user interface a bit slow. Nowhere near as fast as my Nvidia Shield.

fyi, 12.4.0 is still a public testing (experimental) version and has known bugs. I would wait for next 12.4.X releases.

Hello @quickmicIn the grand scheme of things, this is not a big deal, but I figured I report:

Kodi 21.3 - Plugin version 12.3.4

Multi-Version files named properly and appear correctly both in Emby Web and Kodi. Both 4k and 1080p.  When Select the movie, pop-up works as expected to select which version.  Selecting 1080p works fine.

In the Dashboard however, it always reports as playing the 4K Version.

Thank you for the great work.

Thanks, not sure if I can fix it easily. Kodi uses the same IDs for both files, only the filename is different. I see what I can do.

Fair enough... this is a quality of life issue, it's a 1% issue.

Thanks, I can see the issue. I'll fix it in next version. Seems one of the date values is too high/incorrect. I replaced the dateutil library as it's not a standard python library.

fyi, I prepared the plugin code to make it python "no-gil" ready. I hope some day Kodi will switch to no-gil which would result in a huge performance gain (real CPU multicore support).

Hi @quickmic. I just updated to E4K v12.4.2. Library scan on reboot after the plugin is installed still fails for the TV library. The scan of the library starts, but it ends after only one series is scanned. I removed that series from my library (based on what series shown on the screen when the scan ended) to see if the scan would complete. After doing so, the scan still failed.

I've attached two kodi logs. The old log is from the initial scan. The second is from the scan completed after I had removed the series I thought might be problematic.

That did the trick @quickmic. After updating to v12.4.3 the TV library scan completed without issue. I've attached a Kodi.log that captures the timeframe of the scan in case there is anything you want to see.

Thanks!

What is the current stable release if installing on a new setup?

Kodi 21: Stable is still 11.X but I suggest use the 12.X beta.

Kodi 22: 12.X is mandatory

There is another issue. Theme play may reset the progress position of the last played item. I'll fix it in next version.

Updated to 12.4.[4|5] - saw the warning about updating the database, so I came here to read through to be sure that 12.4.x was good. By the time I saw .4/.5 and went back, it had continued on.

Is the default "Yes" update the DB and move forward, or "No" don't and roll back?

For clarity, I just checked, I updated to 12.4.5. I presume that it did all the database updates/reset/whatever, since it's telling me that's the version I'm on...

The default button is Yes -> update, and if you don't press anything it timeouts after 60 seconds and will force the update.

The update is fully automatic, no need for any manual interaction beside you also use Kodi-only content (no plugin content). That might need a Kodi library scan.

12.4.5 is still public testing, it could include bugs as not all function are tested yet.

Hi

I have noticed that while I am watching a movie/show, that when I add a new movie/episode to my Emby server or if the plugin is trying to do something in the background, I can see a black flicker at the top of the video, like shown on video example.  It is as though the Emby for Kodi plugin is doing something in the background without actually displaying the progress bar at top.  Is there anyway to disable or stop the Emby for Kodi plugin from any notifications or processing while playing a video?

Yes, it's notifications of stuff happening in the background.  I get a small dimming also.  I believe you can disable these messages in the plugin.

I have gone through settings/notifications and can't find out which one should be disabled.  Was wondering if someone could let me know which setting I should enable/disable to stop sync happening during video playback.

Not in front of my setup, but I think under SYNC, it maybe called "Sync during Playback"  I haven't looked at these in a very very long time.

I have gone into sync settings.  Have attached screenshot.  Playback shows as grey and not red.  Does that mean sync shouldn't happen during playback?  So far the only option that has stopped the notifications happening during playback is by changing Scan media library to grey and not red.  Will that cause problems?  Reason I ask is that I am trying different settings in the Pause sync options and now when I stop/close a video, Kodi is crashing/rebooting.
