Hey! 

I am running kodi 21.1 on my Xbox with emby plugin at version 12.3.5 and emby version 4.9.2.7.

Everytime the emby plugin tries to sync my series database it gets stuck indefinitely. The log is showing some errors in the end. All help would be greatly appreciated since I've had this for a few months now

Sounds like a corrupt database. If you have access to the filessystem you could try to remove the database so Kodi can rebuild it. Keep in mind, this will wipe all content from Kodi!!!

remove following files:

MyMusicXX.db

MyMusicXX.db-wal (if exists)

MyMusicXX.db-shm (if exists)

MyVideosXX..db

MyVideosXX.db-wal (if exists)

MyVideosXX.db-shm (if exists)

emby_XX.db

emby_XX.db-wal (if exists)

emby_XX.db-shm (if exists)

TexturesXX.db

TexturesXX.db-wal (if exists)

TexturesXX.db-shm (if exists)

... and restart Kodi

Tried that, same thing. It keeps getting stuck on the same episode as well for some odd reason.. 

 

Gonna try a complete uninstall/install of kodi and the emby plugin as well

For reference I made a clean install on my Linux laptop and that works. I uninstalled and reinstalled kodi on my Xbox and I am now stuck on the same episode in the sync again. Attaching the db

Thanks, the database looks clean. Your kodi.log attached in the previous posts reported an internal SQL issue and is not related to any specific episode or content sync.

However it's still an issue but I assume not related to the plugin.

If you have an issue with an episode, this sync issue must be included in the kodi.log otherwise I cannot help as seems you have multiple problems with your installation.

This episode does not fail. Your database has an issue when the plugin tries to add the index. Currently not sure what's the problem.

I checked the log again, and still cannot find core issue. I think the xbox causes the problem, as I found similar reports in the Kodi forum. I'll try a workaround in next version but not sure if this helps.

Yeah, I just did a clean install of 12.3.6 and it looks like the same behavior.  Theme playback attempt starts at 2025-12-09 18:31:50.169

Just updated to 12.3.7. I was on 12.3.5.

I started noticing this with one particular show on 12.3.5, and now it seems it's on many of them:

This is from the Emby | TV listing (the menu entry is: emby_dynamic_mixedvideo_TV/series_series.xml)

BUT... It displays the proper episode name and information when I look at it in Next Episodes (emby_nextepisodes_GUID).

I don't know how long it's been doing this - we recently ran out of episodes on many of the shows we'd been watching, and I decided to look for a couple of new shows. This turned up then.

I can see, you use a mixed content video library on Emby server, which is generally not the best idea. However, it should work as long as the server detects the content correctly.

What is the content listed in your screenshot? Looks like videos not episodes, right? Doe you have videos in the mixed library or are these videos (LiveTV) recorded episodes?

I have no idea how or why I would have ever done that!!! This is a TV shows library, I'm 99.99% certain I would have selected a TV/Show/Episode type for it. Weirdly, ALL of my Emby libraries are "Mixed content" - I'm really quite certain that I wouldn't have done that - I would have tagged the TV library as TV Shows, the Movie library as movies, the Music library as music...

Nope. Those are episodes (Community S01E01 - E06 being displayed).

If I If I do this, I'm going to loose all my watch history, aren't I? :(

Am I most likely going to have to bite the bullet and do this if I ever hope to get Emby/ENG working correctly again?

 

I wonder... I changed my mount points around a while back to work better on Unraid and allow for hard linking instead of copying. I wonder if, when I did that and changed the mappings for the Emby docker container if that somehow confused it and changed them all to Mixed Content...

I just decided to give the beta version a try and it seems cinema mode/playback trailers has stopped working for me. When starting a movie it asks whether I want to watch a trailer but than just giving me a "playback failed" error (I've only local trailers activated, so this shouldn't be a problem with youtube or anything like that). Watching movies without trailers works fine. I've attached my kodi log.

Great, thank you. One other thing if you already working on the trailers. The main reason why I upgraded to version 12 was because with the old version the first trailer Cinema Intros played was always the trailer for the movie I was about to watch (if that trailer was among my local trailers). Using the emby web interface that doesn't happen. Do you know if this still is an issue with the new version of Emby for kodi?

Well I'm rewriting the complete trailer, themes etc. code but it will not make it into 12.3.X versions. That's something for 12.4.X but it's not ready yet.

I only include bugfixes in 12.3.X, no major changes as they are in 12.4.X.

Ah, I see... good to know. Do you have your own trailer selection logic in the addon or does this happen within the server? There is another thing that has been bugging me for quite some time but I'm not sure whether to address it to you or to the developers of Emby core. Currently I see a tendency to only show trailers of the same franchise. Last week I re-watched one of the Harry Potter movies and had to sit through a  marathon of five trailers for other Harry Potter movies (and one for Fantastic Beasts). Same goes for James Bond, Marvel, LotR or any other movie series.
