I keep getting a message that I don't have a companion app, and I've looked everywhere but can't figure out how to install it. It's not showing up in the repositories or anywhere.

That could be an issue.  I only select the ones I want.  I seem to recall selecting one I didn't have before, and it took a while to finish.

Did you install the Kodi companion plugin on your Emby server?

 

Edit: it's not in a Kodi repository.

I'm sure the issue is as always on my side. should I upgrade again to 12.3.4. and send a log?

Usually (very) slow syncs is an indicator, that not all metadata are loaded on server side. Then starting sync the server tries to load the missing data as the plugin requests all metadata. This should be a one time only "issue". Actually, you can trigger it on the server directly as well (without the plugin sync). -> Server library "Refresh metadata"

Personally, I loaded the service plugin, then because I wanted my Emby movie and tv shows libraries I installed the video plugin and because I wanted my Emby photos library I installed the photos plugin.  I did not use the audio plugin because I didn't plan to import Emby music.

However, you may not even need the other 3 if you don't use dynamic nodes

After doing some additional testing, I think I've found the issue.
After changing the setting: Emby Server>Library>Documentaries>"Merge the contents of the top level folders when using folder view"
and switch it "ON" the problem went away.

I did need to run the "repair libraries" on E4K for the fix to work.

I spoke to soon.  After updating to stable ver 4.9.1.90 and 

Resynchronizing the problem returned.

I think I'm doing all this wrong. The library is not mine, it is a servant that I have hired. I understand that maybe I don't have to install anything other than the video one, right? I don't need the service library if the library is not mine, right?

Yes, this is done from the Emby server using a web browser.  Whoever is the admin for the Emby server will need to do this.  The location of the media being played is irrelevant.

From Emby server

• Click settings icon in the top right corner
• Plugins tab from side
• Catalog tab from top
• find the Kodi companion plugin and install

Every user can access the emby server, but only the admin users can install plugins. Not sure which IP you entered, but it's not the IP of your Kodi box. It's the emby server URL.

You should ask the owner to install the plugin, without the plugin you lose the capability to sync deleted content. (Content removed from the server will not be removed from Kodi)

I'm on the last step, I have Emby working, but I can't see the content on the main screen, nor can I click "Continue Watching," etc. It's all in a folder called "Videos." How do I get everything to appear on the main screen like it does in the official Emby app?

I assume you use a custom skin, try the default skin. If it works there, please familiarize with Kodi skin customization. This is the plugin support thread, however here is one example but all custom skins works more or less the same way.

If you have follow up questions to Kodi skins, please open a new thread.

It seems I've finally got it working the way I wanted. It took some effort, but I've managed it. There's just one thing that's bothering me a bit, and I don't know if it's possible to fix it. I don't have access to the server to install Companion, and I don't need it anyway. Is there any way to prevent that message from popping up every time I start Kodi? Thanks

Not yet, but I can add an option to disable this warning in next version. Keep in mind, without Kodi Companion you will run out of sync when content is deleted on the server.

Can request the owner of the server install Kodi companion?  QM can disable the message, but as he said it will cause you problems down the road.

I tried, but they told me they don't install plugins because it slows down the server.
