RLanger7228 73 Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 While visiting my daughter this weekend, I was showing her how to cast Emby data from her Emby Media app on her iPhone to her TV (since her "smart" TV didn't have the Emby Media app available in its App Store). When we tried using the Emby Native sharing icon (SS 1) we couldn't get the TV to show up among the choices. This may be because it is not defined as a destination on her iPhone. We found a work-around by using the general screen sharing option (SS 2) which seemed to work easily enough, but the sound quality was diminished, like it was playing through the speakers on the phone, rather than full quality through the speakers on the TV. When I play the same music through the same phone via a bluetooth connection to an external speaker, the quality is MUCH better. I was wondering if anyone else experiences the same issue, and if there is a work-around for the sound quality when using general screen sharing. Also, I was wondering how Emby can be played when a smart TV doesn't offer the Emby Media app in it's App Store (or how to get a new "random" smart TV added to the "destinations list" that can be used within Emby)? I have an Apple TV device at my home, so that shows up in the list, but hers is just a smart TV at a place she is living right now.

RLanger7228 73 Posted June 17, 2025 Author Posted June 17, 2025 Hi, I looked at the link you sent. It was for reporting general problems, rather than media playback issues (see SS). I did a search of the Emby knowledge database for the title of the article you listed above, but could not find it.. We tried to play a Playlist of songs using the screen sharing option of the iPhone (since we couldn't't download the Emby Media app or use the direct Cast function), and the quality of all the songs played seemed to be "degraded", as if we we were listening to the songs played on the phone speakers themselves as compared to when I stream to a bluetooth speaker, which sounds like full quality. I am not sure what specific example would be more helpful here. it is the screen sharing function that I am asking about, if there are any known issues.

See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file in txt format. Please don't zip or compress, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. If a server transcoding log (ffmpeg log) was also generated during playback (in the server logs folder), please attach that as well.
