I Am Now Using No-IP As My Address, How Do I add this New Host to Emby?

How do I find the new ip address? or host name? Where do I add it in Emby? Will all my existing users still be able to log in remotely? Or do I need to add them manually again? All my existing users have Emby connect.

I had to buy a new modem and router recently and it locked out all my remote connections despite me opening up the 3 ports (I have the screenshots on my previous post about my ISP).

I will now use No-IP to avoid my users from being blocked out of my server...but will they now need to sign in again? They all are using Emby Connect accounts. But As of now with my new router and 3 open ports they are not able to log into my media server.

Oddly, it works on my phone when connecting remotely into my server though.

But now that I have No-IP what is the information I will need to add? Please explain this like I am a newbie, because I am a newbie. Thanks in advance, I'll respond later on.

Method,

No-IP, so you have a domain now, correct?  Users should just enter that domain name. I think you have the option of adding in the port number or have your server automatically use the port for anyone trying to login.  Using the port number at the end of your domain name should result in less random traffic from bots and people trying to hack in.

I believe you should have a link like:  https://mynewdomainname.com:8096.  You set up incoming traffic to your server that is separate from Emby.

Anyway, I am sure someone else will give you more precise info.  Hope this helps.

When you go into manage server, click on the "Network" link in the left side list, then scroll down to the external domain line and enter what your no-ip domain name. You don't need to enter http or https, just your domain name. Mine is in the form of xxxxxxx.ddns.net. Once you do that, restart your server and the manage server dashboard should show your no-ip domain as the Remote (WAN) access. At that point you need to have your users try to sign in and change the server address to that domain.

OPs use of Emby Connect for his users negates this completely. That's the purpose of Connect, so you don't need to tell your users your server address.

Thank you everyone for your assistance, I am now using "no-ip" and hopefully will that will stabilize my remote server if I ever have to change routers or ISP again. Your responses were greatly appreciated.

There should be a place in your ISP router or NAS to set up "Dynamic DDNS"  The purpose is that it will keep your dynamic DNS pointed at your router if the address changes by updating the address connected to the domain automatically so your domain always points at your external address. (which is the purpose of the whole thing)

It should ask who supplied your domain (noip), your no-ip login credentials, and your domain name.

If you are unable to find that you can go to No-IP and get their Dynamic Update Client program.   This should be on an "on all the time" device which is why the first choice is a Router or Nas.  Your server if its on all the time is the next best choice.

Beware though,  the Linux version is missing a lot of instructions to getting it working so if you are not skilled it's not easy.
