Sparxle 11 Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Hi, as of today whenever I try to start a trailer, I get this error message for a fraction of a second and the trailer does not play. It translates to 'This video is not available. Missing http-referrer. Watch on Youtube'. Only happens on Nvidia Shield. Samsung S24 Ultra on the same network and connected to the same server work fine. Both devices are on Android app version 3.4.72. The app does not create a log when this happens. Any idea what the cause might be?
Luke 42077 Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Sparxle 11 Posted June 8, 2025 Author Posted June 8, 2025 Wow, that was a quick. Here you go... What did I do? Pushed the Trailer button on any movie details screen. In fact, the same trailers do work on an S24 Ultra with the same emby app version. What was expected? Trailer should have been played. What happened? Nothing, except for an error message, that was gone far to quick to be recognized with naked eyes, I had to film it. It said 'This video is not available. Missing http-referrer. Watch on Youtube'. hardware_detection-63885009281.txt emby_android_1749412886903.txt embyserver-63885020094.txt
Neminem 1518 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 (edited) I can reproduce it on 4.9.1.0, did the test on beta since @Sparxleis also running beta. But only for some trailers. And the trailer that fail in android app 3.4.72 also fails in web browser. So I suspect its a Trailer plugin issue, or tailer source issue. Since its not specific to the Android app. Here is a little video. BlueStacks App Player 2025-06-09 07-04-16.mp4 Here are some logs embyserver.txtembyserver debug.txt Edited June 9, 2025 by Neminem

You are not getting the HTTP-Referrer-Error? I'll try it in a browser on the shield next...
FrostByte 5392 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 I'm not able to reproduce any errors here app 3.4.72 server 4.9.10 Shield 2019 pro Steps: Open movie details page Click the trailer button I've tried 4 movies so far and each played several trailers without any errors appearing. I don't have any plugins for trailers
Neminem 1518 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 @FrostBytedoes those movie have local trailers ?
FrostByte 5392 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 Just now, Neminem said: @FrostBytedoes those movie have local trailers ? No, I don't have any local trailers. I just tried the movie Arrival which only had one trailer but seemed to connect and play fine. https://pastebin.com/Vkd0pvD2
Neminem 1518 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 Hmmm guess I have misunderstood the issue. I thought it was about the Trailer addon Carry on, nothing to see here, just digging a hole here. 2
Solution Sparxle 11 Posted June 9, 2025 Author Solution Posted June 9, 2025 Thanks for looking into it, but never mind. Problem is solved, I have just deleted cache and data of the Emby app and the trailers are working again. 1 2
Luke 42077 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Hi, this should be resolved in Emby for Android 3.5.15. If you can sideload to try it out, that would be very helpful. We'll get it out to the store as soon as we can. Thanks.
