Emby not synchronising Sonarr tags

Hi, I checked everywhere online and I couldn't find a post about this, so it could be an issue that is only happening to me.

I am still trying to find the best app whether its Emby, or Jellyfin or Plex etc... so I am trying all of them to see which one suits me best.

However one major issue I have with Emby is the inability to synchronise the tags from Sonarr.

For example Sonarr has auto-tagging feature that tags all anime as "anime" tag. Jellyfin can read those tags and apply the parent control "Restrict Items With Tags" throughout without hesitation. One-stop-shop solution and I don't have to do anything about it.

Meanwhile with Emby I have to go manually tagging every single show manually which can be daunting.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Emby Server: Linux debian : latest

Emby Clients: Anrdoid TV, Android Mobile and Web Player

Absolutely.

I will add additional information (logs etc), once this feature is confirmed to exist and I have issue with it. Up until now I couldn't find a setting to make it work.

Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:

1. In Sonarr I will add a show ie: Fullmetal Alchemist, I will add the tag anime as shown below.

2. Confirm the show is added in Sonarr with the right tag. (Note that Sonarr has an autotag feature which does it automatically as well)

3. Apply restrictions on tag anime in the Parental Controls.

4. Load up Emby (for this demonstration purpose I am using web version) with the account that has the restriction. Notice how the show Fullmetal Alchemist is still showing / available despite the tag anime is restricted.

5. Manually add the tag and save.

6. Now the show disappeared from the list.

Basically Jellyfin does this automatically which saves a lot of time and hassle, yet I can't find the same solution for Emby, unfortunately.

Thank you for your help.

Does it create a .nfo file with the tags? and if so, where, what does it look like?

So after I read your very valid questions, I dived into it and looked up documentations for Sonarr and ran several tests with different tags.

Turns out, it was pure coincidence that Jellyfin appeared to read the tags, but in reality it wasn't. It was a mix of Maximum allowed parental rating  and the manual tags added from Emby that was reading when the rating was turned off.

In other words, Sonarr doesn't save the tags in .nfo somewhere separate, as I used to think.

Sorry for the trouble, have a nice day.
