This morning the connection the to my emby server was working fine. Then the area lost internet access and now the WAN ip address has changed. I tried updating my apps with the new address but nothing connects. i have restarted the server machine and emby server. but, nothing. i haven't made any changes to the setting. I'm at a loss.  the local ip works just fine.. but, nothing if i want to watch it on my tablet across the net. i'm open to suggestions

Is the WAN address showing correctly on the Emby dashboard?

so, i talked to my provider and they stated they made change at our box and now my area has a share ip address and not the usual...so i guess people in my area are now sharing and IP since they are running out of addresses. So any way to work around that for the emby server?

I guess they mean you've ended up with cgNAT.

You can't work with that - and if they don't offer the possibility of getting your own IP address again, then you have to go around it using some kind of tunnel.  Tailscale is a currently favoured free option, but there are several others.

i have tried Tailscale and it was.. less than ideal. i had load times and over a local lan and phone data. my current modem is a loaner from the ISP and i think its just a bare basic one. so, im guessing it had some limits. im still trying to get my ISP Techs to call and help me fix some issues and get a public IP. plus, my new modem should be arriving soon.

OK please keep us posted on how that goes. Thanks.

well, finally got my emby server backup and online. ISP still needs to work out bugs. Tailscale works way better now ...but, fortunately i dont have to use that anymore. but, at least i have an option in the future. Even thought my modem and router were supposedly compatible i still replaced them and after a new cable line put to my house i started having moderately stable internet connections. but, im please that i can get to my server once again. Thanks to all for the assistance
