Kcircuit 6 Posted October 4, 2025 Author Posted October 4, 2025 I just spun up a Ubuntu server and installed 4.9.1.80, Chromecasting a live tv channel still doesn't work correctly. Audio only coming through.
OptiOignon 0 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 It still doesn't work properly (only audio) emby version 4.9.1.80
OptiOignon 0 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Great, it works! Thanks! But for me, there's still a small problem. When I start playing a channel for the first time, it works as expected. If I manually stop playing that channel and then start another, still no problems, it works. However, if I put channel #2 without stopping playing channel #1, I get an error message and the channel change doesn't work. I have to press channel #2 again for it to play, but the error message still remains in the foreground. I'm using NextPVR, maybe that's the problem. I'll look at the logs when I have more time.
Relish02 2 Posted October 6, 2025 Posted October 6, 2025 Chromecast from the iOS Emby app is working for me now on server 4.9.1.80 and seems to work better than in the past. Thanks @Luke! I used to also have an issue where the audio and video would initially be out of sync, but so far, I haven't seen that yet. There are some issues with how the UI is working after casting is started, I can elaborate if you are not already aware.

After casting starts, I get the usual bar down towards the bottom of the screen: If I tap on that bar for the remote control screen, I get this: If I tap in the middle of the empty area, then the remote control screen appears: I haven't checked out all the controls here yet, but I notice that there is no stop button. The only way to stop is to turn off casting. Perhaps this is intentional, but just thought I would mention it.
madmack 2 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 It works indeed. One thing i noticed is that we no longer have a stop button, only pause. It seems the only way I can stop the stream now is by either switching to another channel or disabling casting. 1
Luke 42077 Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 HI, yes we need to restore the stop button. Thanks. 1
Kcircuit 6 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 Appears to be mostly working now with the latest update. Some times freezing on the app when casting or a spinning blue wheel (android app) but generally it's working. 1
Kcircuit 6 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 For me the issue has returned, when I cast a live tv channel I just have a spinning wheel on the TV with the words Ready to Cast.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Kcircuit 6 Posted November 9, 2025 Author Posted November 9, 2025 Have a look at these, i rebooted the server so the logs were fresh. I think the problem only exists when Chromecasting from an external connection. The following day i tried it on a local connection (to the server) and it worked fine. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-1 ffmpeg-2
Kcircuit 6 Posted November 9, 2025 Author Posted November 9, 2025 (edited) I did note, when casting locally when it worked, on the dashboard it would say HTTP connection. Then when i played back the same video remotely on a laptop & phone it still said HTTP, even though it should be over https. Monitoring the connection with Wireshark i can see TCP packets being passed to my secure port, does this sound right ? Although it only looks like the packets from the client back to the host are TCP. No expert in this area sorry ! Edited November 9, 2025 by Kcircuit

Luke 42077 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 Hi, can you give it another try? Thanks.
