Kcircuit 6 Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 Attempting to cast a Live Tv channel that's playing on my phone but the tv will only display Ready to cast logo and play the audio of the live tv stream but no video. and no information about the current stream will be showing on the Dashboard/phone. Casting Movies/Tv in the same way works perfectly fine. Anything i can adjust to fix this issue ? I recently migrated from win10 to ubuntu with a restore. embyserver (18).txt ffmpeg-directstream-c2fd79f1-8cdd-4684-b89f-441984bdec6c_1.txt
Kcircuit 6 Posted June 7, 2025 Author Posted June 7, 2025 After reading some other threads I've understood it might point to making sure the secure address and port on Emby is correct for remote secure connections. I've checked these settings and it's appears fine. Although I don't use a standard secure port for my server. Externally from my home I can cast to a tv no problems. It appears to be when I'm at home local to my server I have the issues with Chromecast only playing sound when casting live tv.
Luke 42077 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 HI, we'll take a look at this. Thanks for reporting.
Kcircuit 6 Posted June 11, 2025 Author Posted June 11, 2025 I reverted all my port settings back to default and its still not working correctly, so i assume its a configuration setting in my setup ?
Kcircuit 6 Posted June 23, 2025 Author Posted June 23, 2025 Okay, I'm going to need some actual assistance with this. I'm still not able to cast live tv to my Chromecast either internally or remote now. I've migrated from windows to Linux recently and it was working before the migration but now I just get the Ready to cast screen or No compatible streams are available. I've tried playing with ports, turning off secure connections, ect.. What's the next steps I can take to troubleshoot?
Luke 42077 Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Quote I'm still not able to cast live tv to my Chromecast either internally or remote now. Hi, what exactly happens when you try?
Kcircuit 6 Posted June 24, 2025 Author Posted June 24, 2025 When i cast I get the screen that says Ready to Cast, the circle spins for a little bit and sometimes the audio of the live channel will play but never the video. Ready to Cast says on the screen until i play something else. Here is a video. https://jmp.sh/s/aWr8eBH1t0QOIMR4b4Q7 Have a look at the end of my log. ffmpeg-remux-259e526f-164c-45e1-9cd5-7239efc852ea_1.txt embyserver (20).txt

Kcircuit 6 Posted June 28, 2025 Author Posted June 28, 2025 I'm having the similar issue. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/139358-chromecast-plays-audio-but-no-video-live-tv/#comment-1453309
Relish02 2 Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Just wanted to add that I am seeing the same symptoms as @Kcircuitwhere the TV will only display the Ready to Cast logo and play the audio of the live TV stream, but no video. Also I see no information about the current stream showing on the phone Dashboard. In my case, the server is on Windows 10 and the phone is an iPhone. It has been this way for a while, perhaps since the whole Chromecast expired certificates fiasco or shortly after. Chromecast on Plex for live TV has been toast ever since they redesigned their phone app, so I recently switched back to Emby. I have not tried playing any recordings or movies yet, but for debugging I ran: avahi-browse -rt _googlecast._tcp from an Ubuntu box on my network and it returned ve=05 which is Cast v5 (historically Chromecast Audio) according to this site. Perhaps to fix the issue they had to move the cast version forward, but this device is definitely not audio-only. I use ffmpeg to transcode my live TV before it reaches the server, so all the video is as follows: Output #0, mpegts, to 'pipe:1': encoder : Lavf61.1.100 Stream #0:0: Video: h264, yuv420p(tv, bt709, progressive), 1280x720 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], q=2-31, 29.97 fps, 90k tbn encoder : Lavc61.3.100 libx264 Stream #0:1(und): Audio: aac (LC), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 320 kb/s encoder : Lavc61.3.100 aac The H264 codec is set to high profile, level 4.1. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I can tweak any of these values if needed. 1 1
madas 0 Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Having this also - only liveTV. Everything else works fine with Chromecast. Any have any workarounds until this is fixed?
Kcircuit 6 Posted July 13, 2025 Author Posted July 13, 2025 Unfortunately I'm not aware of how to work around it yet. I currently use emby on Ubuntu so I spun up a seperate windows 10 with only emby installed as a test and the same issue persists where I'm unable to play live tv to Chromecast. 1
Relish02 2 Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 The workaround for this would be to use screen mirroring or casting. For iOS there is the Replica app ($) and I believe there's built-in functionality for this on Android.

We still need a proper fix, Its been weeks. 1
codechurn 9 Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Just chiming in that I am having the same problem.
Kcircuit 6 Posted August 24, 2025 Author Posted August 24, 2025 It's been a few months now, still doesn't work, still cannot Chromecast from emby, when will we see a fix ?
Relish02 2 Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 I’m guessing that this issue is not a priority for them as only three people are complaining about it. If anyone else is experiencing this issue, you will need to comment here to raise the visibility.
madmack 2 Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 I certainly do and i’m following the discussion awaiting a solution .
OptiOignon 0 Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Just a quick message to say I have the same problem.
Luke 42077 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Hi, apologies for the delay. I can reproduce. We are working on getting this resolved. Thanks.
