tarinr 5 Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 This issue just started occurring. Regardless of what I add—whether it's a movie or a TV show—Emby is no longer recognizing the new content. It is generating a .nfo file during the scan, but the new media isn’t being displayed in the library, and Emby isn’t pulling in graphical assets or metadata. I’ve noticed an error in the logs that references the EmbyServer.dll file. I've attached the log for your review. Before you ask, I do follow strict naming conventions and directory structures. I manage a large library—over 2,500 movies and more than 8,000 TV episodes—so this isn't new territory for me. The only recent change I’ve made is adding a new user to the server. One possible complication is my somewhat unique network setup. I live in an apartment complex equipped with Wi-Fi hubs throughout the two buildings. Each unit accesses the network via a unique password. However, I’m also connected via Ethernet to a dedicated gigabit connection. This means I'm simultaneously connected to two separate networks: one via Ethernet, the other via Wi-Fi. Everything else seems to be working flawlessly under this configuration—except for this Emby issue. Could the dual-network setup be interfering with Emby’s media recognition? Are the two potentially related? Mac OS 15.5, Emby Server: Version 4.8.11.0 embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
tarinr 5 Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 I thought I did. I have added the movie Rio Bravo (1959).MP4 in a folder named Rio Bravo (1959) to my usual movie folder. I scanned the database. An .nfo file is created but no graphic elements are pulled (poster, fanart, clearlogo etc) as usually occurs. Rio Bravo does not appear anywhere on the Emby Server. It is not associated with Westerns, John Wayne or anything else. Another example in my TV folder: (MAIN FOLDER) Kevin Costner's - The West (2025) (SUB FOLDER) Season 01 (EPISODE) Kevin Costner's - The West (2025) - S01E01-fallen Timbers.mkv .nfo file generated, but nothing on the server. Both of these files work fine in PLEX and INFUSE.
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Hi, are you able to locate it using folder browsing?
tarinr 5 Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 Curiously, the folders for the two examples do appear under the folders tab. However, they’re empty.
Luke 42077 Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 OK. How many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?
Solution tarinr 5 Posted June 4, 2025 Author Solution Posted June 4, 2025 Luke, I’m so sorry that I’ve wasted your time on this. I discovered the problem, When setting up parental controls for a second user, I set my own to what I thought would enable me to view everything. Apparently, it doesn’t like NR, and Unrated because those were being blocked. I should have just left Parental Controls blank. 1
