oRBIT 0 Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 A recent Emby user and I have discovered these problems with my AppleTV 4K: * Audio is not in sync if the player is not set to NATIVE * Sometimes audio/subtitles suddenly goes nuts and went very much off-sync. Stopping and starting the movie fixes the problem. Watched a movie today and have to start/stop a few times. I'm running the latest Emby-app at time of writing. Anyone experienced anything similar and knows if there's a workaround?
Luke 42077 Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

I use HomePods for stereo audio on my Apple TVs and this is a constant struggle. As you said, it's a problem when the MPV library is used, but for several reasons, you can't really get away with only using the Native player. I've also have the same issue with subtitles. I just gave up and keep them off now.
cul8rmom1 5 Posted June 17, 2025 Posted June 17, 2025 The subtitle issue I have pretty often. I watch a lot of anime and other stuff and keep subtitles on. Subtitles just seem to stop working or get all wonky on apple tv. If you close and restart the app it resolves the issue 95% of the time. My brother was having the same problems and he just kept manually switching the player type and that was pissing him off. Not so much lately but it seems to exhibit itself if I have some other apps running like netflix etc. (that doesnt seem to be as much an issue lately). Restarting emby (swiping up to close it) seems to fix the subtitle issue. Rebooting the appletv clears up other things. AV1 codec also seems to cause some audio sync and hang issues. Put the player on auto and next time you have the issue hit the home button twice, swipe up to close the app then try it again. Good luck!!
