Add a function to show what time the video would end at?

Hi all,

Thanks for building the software, long time Jellyfin user and think it's great, has some short comings though, so I built an Emby server last night to try out and did a monthly Premium before I look at lifetime membership. Emby is a lot more polished, but for me feels like it's missing a few things, so I have some suggestions?

1: On Jellyfin, when you start a video (Movie/TV) it shows you what time the video will end at, say 23:10 or so, could this be added as it was so nice and handy to have, instead on us trying to calculate it before we start a movie.

2: When entering the library, the Alphabetical list on the right, will only show under title. On Jellyfin, I had my library set to Date Added, so can see new stuff and could still see the alphabet list, but it's something Emby hasn't added.

3: More highlighted search button at the top, the search is small and feels hidden to the top left of the page, but it needs to be really highlighted at the top where you have options like Shows Suggestions, maybe have a smaller section to the right with search there.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

I thought all client apps were already showing that; where are you not seeing it, which platform?

How does having alpha picker while sorted by Date added make sense?

Hi,

On the End time, I've tried on the web in Firefox, on the Samsung TV app and in the Emby app on Android. It'll show you say the countdown like 1:50:40 / 02:45 but it won't show you that it would end at 20:30.

We always had it as date added so we could see the latest stuff added to the library, but then when we wanted to go to say Kill Bill, I had to go to search or change the filter to title, so I could select K.

Number to the right of the slash at the right end below the seek bar is the "Ends at" time, while number left of the slash is remaining time; number at the left end below the seek bar is elapsed time.

So that'd effectively change sorting method automatically to by Title?

Based on a recent comment in another thread, I think they have implemented this as a filter, not a jump.

Ah, OK, I was trying (and failing) to make sense of that in the context of sorted list and jump points. Thanks.

They have the letter jump implemented as a filter because that's what we had a long time ago.

The only reason we did it has a filter way back when was due to technical limitations. Now we're able to just scroll you to the letter that you click on so that you can still see everything.

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't think the number after / was the time it would finish at. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

With regards to setting it as Date added, would there be a way to return the alphabet list on the right? It was so handy to have to jump to that section of the alphabet and find the movie I'm looking for. Example being, I really like having the the list by date added, so can see what was newly added. But say I wanted to find a movie but couldn't remember the name, but knew it started with a K, it was easier to go to K and look at the list and then find what I was looking for. Now it's like an extra step, clicking back to Title and then to K. Is there any chance to bring this back?

It is a completely different paradigm so not really. The A-Z buttons can't be there when sorting on date because where would they go. So it's not like a quick change can be made to give you what you want because it would lead to a domino effect of other things having to change as well.

Pitty, such a handy way to navigate.

Thanks
