snacks03 15 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) One of my folders in my Movies Library is identifying as a Series. I've tried removing the identification, tried removing all of my nfos for that folder, completely removing the folder path from the library and removing the entire library, all cases continue to make the same bug. I also tried going into the Swagger UI mentioned in this post, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to see if there is something wrong. Running version 4.8.11.0 Edited May 29, 2025 by snacks03 add app version

Since that's a movie library, why not use dedicated (Movie) content type library instead of Mixed content, therefore avoiding such occurrences by default (although in complex folder structures, other issues might arise)?

Should I wait for the library scan to complete before submitting the log? I've added and removed this path a few times this morning Edited May 29, 2025 by snacks03 add images 1
GrimReaper 4740 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 Can you recheck/confirm in your Settings>Library tab on library thumbnail as it is not possible for an item to be identified as a Series in a Movie-type library.

Im also generating a new library with only the suspect path (Horror) and a working path (Comedy) right now as Moves (Test). Same issue on new library add. I will have a log posted soon once scan is complete, my collection is quite large
GrimReaper 4740 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 I am somewhat confused as Horror folder as in: 44 minutes ago, snacks03 said: is not listed/visible here: 15 minutes ago, snacks03 said: Either way, prerequisite for any troubleshooting is for library scan to complete. As a sidenote, do you maybe have that same folder inadvertently added as some TV shows or Mixed content type library path?
snacks03 15 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 @GrimReaperI was in the process of removing and adding that path again to make this post, my apologies for the confusion. This problem has been occurring for a few days I double checked my other library pathings, those are set correctly for their content type and dont see any of paths mixed into my two TV libraries. I dont run any of my libraries under the mixed content type.
GrimReaper 4740 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 Do you save NFOs with media? Does your Horror folder contain tvshow.nfo within?
snacks03 15 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 I disabled NFO creation with Emby and use tinymediamanager to create my nfos. In my Movies folder, they populate as the exact file name of the video file, but with nfo. Just ran a search for any tvshow.nfo files, none found. @GrimReaper@ebrhere is the log attached embyserver.txt
Solution GrimReaper 4740 Posted May 29, 2025 Solution Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) Without debug log, it's somewhat hard to figure out what was occuring and which steps you exactly took while the scan was running, as within same log covering relatively short interval (~50ish mins), several items were both an Episode and a Movie: Quote 2025-05-29 12:37:19.123 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Episode, Name: Fear Street - Prom Queen (2025) [tmdbid=1001414], Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\Fear Street - Prom Queen (2025)\Fear Street - Prom Queen (2025) [tmdbid=1001414].mkv 2025-05-29 12:47:20.157 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Movie, Name: Fear Street: Prom Queen, Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\Fear Street - Prom Queen (2025)\Fear Street - Prom Queen (2025) [tmdbid=1001414].mkv 2025-05-29 12:40:21.961 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Episode, Name: The Tunnel (2011) [tmdbid=46221], Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\The Tunnel (2011)\The Tunnel (2011) [tmdbid=46221].mkv, Id: 1710525 2025-05-29 12:47:20.542 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Movie, Name: The Tunnel, Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\The Tunnel (2011)\The Tunnel (2011) [tmdbid=46221].mkv 2025-05-29 12:40:59.366 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Episode, Name: Rosario (2025) [tmdbid=1297028], Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\Rosario (2025)\Rosario (2025) [tmdbid=1297028].mkv 2025-05-29 12:47:20.339 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Movie, Name: Rosario, Path: X:\Media\Movies\Horror\Rosario (2025)\Rosario (2025) [tmdbid=1297028].mkv Two of the movies are definitely problematic, either due to their titles or incorrect NFOs attached: 1. Run Scan media library 9) If that single/those two movies identifiy as it/they should (as a movie), continue adding movies in batches (10-20-50) and running library scan (if RTM disabled) while paying particular attention to movies listed above - if it breaks at any point, you'd narrow down potential suspects and can look into filenaming/title and/or item's NFO, as per above. snacks03 15 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 Interesting, those titles were recent adds to my collection. Looked over those files and everything seemed ok... Followed your steps and got the folder correctly populated, Horror not identifying as series now. Additionally, the Collections library seemed bugged when I re-did the pathing (or maybe from sometime before? was just noticed); when I relinked the Horror path to Movies it created another Collections library, the old one said "string" with 0 folders. I don't have a screenshot when it happened, but you can still see the Collections "sting" library from the screenshot 4 hours ago. I deleted the Collections "string" library as well. Is there a reason why the entire Horror folder needed to be moved/extracted out of the Movies root on step 2? Does Emby still remember past pathing if the pathing still exists?

Exactly so it wouldn't (though it shouldn't, but ghosts in the machine can manifest anytime), effectively decoupling that folder from any associations it might've possibly maintained, not knowing what was the end/final status of those items, episodes or movies, per server log. Though, with your folder structure/library paths, it likely might've remained in place, as you're actually adding those genre subfolders separately as library paths (btw, wise choice) instead of just adding X:\Movies root as library path and therefore introducing additional layer of complexity. 1 hour ago, snacks03 said: got the folder correctly populated, Horror not identifying as series now. ebr 16179 Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Hi. Just a question but why have you added so many specific folders to the library? IOW why not just add "Series-TV" and "Series-Animation"...?

I tend to disagree there, have lost track how many topics troubleshooted due to complex library structure failing because of some TV show naming and breaking parser; personally, using #-A-Z folder structure and have added each subfolder as library path separately instead of root - and would always recommend it: keep it as simple as possible. Better to once lose 5-10 minutes for initial setup than hours/days for troubleshooting later. Edited May 30, 2025 by GrimReaper 1

I have some users who do not like war, i have others who dont like kids movies. with my setup this way I can go into my users access permissions and check off what they want and dont want. 1 1
