Snarkfish 3 Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) Hello, When I first started using Emby, I set up my OpenSubtitles.org username/password and it worked happily for a year or more. However, at some point, I went to update my password, and it's been broken ever since. The log shows an error for "invalid username / password". Changing my password (3-4 times) did not resolve it, nor did creating an entire new account with a new e-mail address with a new password. No matter what I do, it continues to give the same error. I've since tried Addic7ed instead, and the error I get for that is along the lines of "Connection to www.addic7ed.org cancelled due to previous timeout". The image below is what I get when trying to search for subtitles manually with one or both of Addic7ed and OpenSubtitles enabled for the library. I tried uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling it, but no change. I provided two log files with errors from both plugins. It seems strange that everything else works with no issue except subtitle plugins. But in any case, I've tried to address this myself for at least 6 months, and I've come to the point where I'm not even sure what else to try. Please help. embyserver (3).txt embyserver (4).txt Edited May 29, 2025 by Snarkfish Clarification
Snarkfish 3 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 Hello there, thank you for the reply. No! I've never come across this information before. I'll try doing that now. But that said, could you possibly speak to the issue I'm having with Addic7ed? No VPN being used on the server machine.
Snarkfish 3 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 My sweet goodness. That allowed searches to work again, I assume automatic subtitle downloading will also work with OpenSubtitles. I'm less concerned about Addic7ed but wouldn't mind some clarification if possible. Otherwise I can mark your reply as a solution once we ferret that last piece out, but it's not make-or-break for me 1

Snarkfish 3 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 (edited) So I am able to open that URL on my laptop (https://www.addic7ed.com/), and the page opens in under a second on my laptop. I'll triple check on the server computer. And... Yes, it also loads in about 1 second on that machine (through VNC). I have a VPN on my Laptop, but no such VPN on the server computer and they both connect in Chrome. I would love to add Addic7ed to the Subtitle download list if possible as I have quite a number of titles backlogged for subtitle downloading, and only a Free membership on OpenSubtitles.com so I'm rate limited now but at least that's communicating now. Snarkfish 3 Posted May 29, 2025 Author Posted May 29, 2025 Looks like it doesn't always fail... I may just have to get a VIP membership for my sanity. embyserver (5).txt
