Identify seems unable to search

I rarely add movies to my library, but I've found that when the scan can't seem to identify a movie, or an actor.

When I select identify, the system reports Not Found, even when I put the IMDB identity in the field.

This used work, but now, no joy.

I tried updating the version to the current version (4.8.11.0), but that made no difference.

Will need to see the server log to see the queries that happen during this process for a specific example.

You have some network issues as all of your outgoing requests are timing out:

Quote

MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://www.mb3admin.com/admin/service/EmbyPackages.json timed out

MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/login timed out

MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://api.themoviedb.org/3/configuration/primary_translations?api_key=x_secret2_x timed out

MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Connection to https://private.omdbapi.com?apikey=x_secret3_x&i=tt0368730&plot=short&r=json timed out

Typical causes of this are firewall, security software, VPN or misconfigured DNS.

With the current stable version 4.8.11.0, it's currently not possible to identify content.
I'm trying to identify Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical 2025, both automatically via the IMDB ID and manually, but nothing works.

I also tried this with other content, and it works.

You can post server log upon trying to identify.

What library type is that? You're searching a series with that IMDBId:

Providers are queried by type, you can't search for/identify a movie in a TV Shows content-type library.

Edit: Btw, you've reached inotify instances limit, see:

I just ran the search command in imdb id: just to show that it doesn't work. Regarding the inorify, I think I disabled it on the Synology. Ill fix that, Thanks.

I honesty have no idea what do you mean by that.

I think I misunderstood your previous question. It is indeed a TV show-type library.

Regarding inotify, it's enabled in the task scheduler. Any idea what it could be?

Nope, but maybe @FrostBytemight.

What do you mean by that? You can identify it by title or externalID, but you can't force a movie be TV show, you can only make it a special episode if you want it to show under your TV shows.

If you used the guide for inotify, then enabling the script by itself won't make it run.  Either reboot (as it's designed to run a boot-up) or highlight the script and click Run.

To verify it worked use Terminal on the NAS and type the following:

cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances
cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches

You can also recheck your logs after the script runs and search for inotify.

Sorry but this is a provider issue not a Emby issue as it only exits that way via OMDB via TV content type.

But yes since TMDB list it as a movie it would have to be in a movie content type unless you enable OMDB but will require manually applying things.

Emby automatically identified that as a movie for me.  Didn't have to do anything special.
