65535 14 Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 I'm encountering frequent crashes when seeking in particular files on my new Android TV box. I'm hoping I can get a dev to look at this. The files I found that cause it all use the lossy DTS audio format. Here's an example of one: Here is a log of the session that crashed: emby_android_1748256079039.txt This is on a Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen (also known as MiTV-AFMU0 / MDZ-32-AA) and it has Android TV 14.
Luke 42077 Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 HI ,you can update to the new 3.4.70 release and see how things compare? Thanks.
65535 14 Posted May 26, 2025 Author Posted May 26, 2025 No change. Managed to get it to crash in 2 minutes.
65535 14 Posted May 26, 2025 Author Posted May 26, 2025 (edited) 4 so far that I found. It happens with every file with this specific format DTS 5.1 that I try. Also it seems Kodi is immune as I've been unable to make it crash like that. Edited May 26, 2025 by 65535
Luke 42077 Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.
65535 14 Posted May 26, 2025 Author Posted May 26, 2025 I found a fairly reliable method for baiting the crash. You use the remote, pressing the right arrow 3 times for an effective seek of 30 secs. Then you let it fully recover (sync video and audio) before repeating. If you reach the end you can do the same but backwards, but I usually crash very quickly, after like 3 reps. 1

65535 14 Posted June 16, 2025 Author Posted June 16, 2025 Update: the crashing seems to only happen with the seamless variant of refresh rate switching. It's when the refresh rate is changed instantly on demand, without the usual few seconds in a black screen. Starting and stopping playback (stopping as in backing out of the player) repeatedly with this seamless mode also causes the app to crash. Disabling this seamless behavior on my Samsung TV requires setting game mode to off. On or auto allows VRR to be used, I guess, and that's what it seems to use to switch rates. 1
