In-Progress Remember audio and subtitles selection per TV show

Hi.

I'm facing same issue. While "remember audio" works as expected and changes the audio of all episodes when you change it in one, "remember subtitles" option doesn't work at all. No matter what subtitle mode you set, subtitles are not propagated to other episodes. Do we have any update to this topic?

Yes, something is wrong with subtitles for very long time... . 

I found, if turn off "Remember subtitle track selections" it's not showing subs at all. Yes, then not playing. But even, if Subtitle Mode is "No subtitles", it's still playing forced subs.

Generally I'm not using subs, but have rare need for them.

4. When I change Spanish audio to any other language, it is propagated to all episodes of the show:

AFAIK you're going backwards about it (the assumptions you start with are are based on interpretation opposite to current Emby's logic - by that I don't mean wrong by default, as helper text below subtitle mode is somewhat ambiguous, and, truth be told, maybe that should be the logic implemented, as there's pros and cons to both approaches - hence "interpretation"): you assume that language other than preferred audio language triggers Smart mode subtitle selection, while it's actually preferred subtitle language that does it, in cases where audio language is different from preferred subtitle language (I'd guess based on the assumption that Spanish-speaking person would have Spanish subtitles as preferred, not English). That's why you're seeing all the above behaviors:

- any audio language other than English (which is preferred subs language) results in English subs pre-selected

- English audio language (also preferred subs language) results in no subs/subs Off (you'd observe the same with Spanish/Spanish preferred)

Indeed, I misunderstood the behavior. Thanks for the clarification! Anyways, no matter what subs mode I select (and preferred audio and subs langs) , subs are not propagated

So, how could I do if I want to:

• Spanish audio - no subs
• English audio - English subs

I don't mind If it's not automatic, but at least, if I change subs in one episode, I want it to be propagated automatically

Not feasible in any of the currently available subtitle modes (unless you want to hack it and change all English subs to spa language code).

Simply selecting different track in the UI does not propagate any change nor it makes that selection stick/remembered (nor it ever did); for any change to default/automatic selection, item has to be played/started, even for few seconds, to be remembered. That also applies to remembering per-TV show feature.

What I'm trying to say is that the remembering per-TV show feature is giving problems to me (IDK if it's a bug or it's simply me not making it work). I select English audio and English subs, I play the video (in all my previous examples I did not specify but I didn't just change in UI but play the video too) and audio is propagated to the whole show but subs are not. No matter what subs mode or language I choose. This is my real problem, subs are not being propagated

I believe we have determined there are issues with this in 4.8.x that have been addressed in the 4.9.x line.
