Unable to Install Emby: Please help.

Emby was working fine. I wanted to reset metadata so via SSH I removed the EmbyServer folder. Now, I can't install Emby via package center (it downloads and nothing happens) or by manual install where I am told that 8096 is occupied. There are no other services using 8096 that I know of and I don't know how to find out. Trying to restore system config via Hyperbackup but that does not restore the app it seems. Can someone please help?

Hi, what model do you have? What file are you trying to install?

723+. I managed to reinstall. The issue I ran in to was caused after I removed the /EmbyServer folder hoping that I would be able to do a clean reinstall. I had issues with wrong metadata etc and I wanted to start afresh. 

Is there a way you can give step by step instructions here so I/others can do that? A complete, clean reinstall of Emby on Synology?

Hi, if it's already installed, then the only thing you need to do is shutdown the server and then delete the server data folder:

Emby Server Data Folder

That will give you the equivalent of a clean install, although you can also uninstall and reinstall the server Synology package if you wish. Does that answer your question?

For others: in Synology, EmbyServer folder is in 

/var/packages/

 

I am still trying to get the metadata to work OK, most of the metadata appear incorrect. And also, there is no way to delete collections.. it is annoying. if you have any insights, I would be grateful.
