Inconsistent Playback

Hi Emby People,

Here is a strange one, and if I am honest I think it is pointing to a problem with the TV rather than anything Emby related.

I have two Sony Android TV's that are identical apart from the panel size.  They have identical firmware, and software versions. On the Android TV client, one plays a particular MKV file without issue, the other one playing the exact same file, pauses for 2-3 seconds every 6-10 seconds. I have also notice that weirdly (at least as far as I can tell) the server is transcoding the file which given the capabilities of the TV seems pretty odd, this is the file details in question:

Title576i MPEG2VIDEO
CodecMPEG2VIDEO
ProfileMain
Level8
Resolution720x576
Aspect Ratio4:3
InterlacedYes
Framerate25
Bitrate5 mbps
Colour Primariesbt470bg
Colour Spacebt470bg
Colour Transferbt470bg
Bit Depth8 bit
Pixel Formatyuv420p
Reference Frames1

I disabled transcoding on my profile, and it made absolutely no difference to the pausing problem, but it did try to Direct Play.

It's also hit and miss for no appropriate reason from what I can see. Whilst all files play on the main TV, on the 'problem tv' some of them play and some of them pause every 6-10 seconds. I have messed with the max bitrate on the client and all sorts, but I cannot find any reason why this might be the case. I have attached the two flogs of a failing file, and this was when I disabled transcoding as part of the troubleshooting.

I am less bothered as to why its transcoding, I am sure there is a technical reason for that, but the pausing is just odd.

Any advice - much appreciated.,

Hi.  The video is interlaced.  My guess is that one of your TVs has the option to de-interlace on the server checked and the other one not.

Then, the mode of the different TVs could be set differently as well (e.g. the refresh rate) which may impact frame display.

@ebrThank you very much. So you were correct, Ih ad deinterlacing on the server for the non-working TV., disabled and his fixed the transcoding. Then we had a power outage and when it came back it seems the Firmware Upgrade on the TV hadn't completed successfully despite a notification otherwise. Reinstalled - Everything is now working perfectly !

Really appreciate your time.
