jodido2024 1 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 (edited) I can't get Emby to open or run because Jellyfin, which is no longer installed, tries to update itself. I've uninstalled it, and there are no registry entries or folders that refer to it. I've dumped the cache and I can't edit the port. This happens when I use Chrome, which has been the default browser. Attached is the error message I get when switching to a different default browser. Edited May 21, 2025 by jodido2024 further info
Luke 42077 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Hi, you may want to try clearing browsing data and seeing if that helps.
Luke 42077 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 What address is in the browser address bar when this happens?
Luke 42077 Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 What if you try to open from a browser on a smart phone?
jodido2024 1 Posted May 23, 2025 Author Posted May 23, 2025 (edited) I'm not sure how to run it from a browser, but I installed the app on my phone. It runs, and does access the media on another network device, but it's not visible to the device that plays the media. Edited May 23, 2025 by jodido2024 update
Luke 42077 Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 @jodido2024are you still having an issue with this?
Solution jodido2024 1 Posted June 11, 2025 Author Solution Posted June 11, 2025 No, it magically fixed itself. 1
rckoegel 10 Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 Responding here in case someone else runs into this. It wasn't solved by magic, Chrome was actually storing and trying to load the Jellyfin page that uses the same address. It also thinks that stored passwords are the same for each, as they use the same address. There is a site config button on the left of the Chrome address bar that one can click on > then cookies and site data > then manage on-device site data > then click the little trash can to delete the stored data and refresh the page. 1
