marriedman 85 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 I am trying to troubleshoot why my Samsung S90D playback and I would like to disable transcoding for just that device. So far, the closest thing I have found in the settings is to disable transcoding for a single user. Am I overlooking this setting or is it not an option?
Neminem 1518 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Hmmm does the video play when transcoding is turned off. And not if turned on ? I don't have a samsung tv so can't test. Have you looked at playback settings. That what I can think of. What media ? Subs ? logs could help, if that could reveal something.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Sorry there is no per device options for this but at the same time what is the reason it is transcoding?
marriedman 85 Posted May 21, 2025 Author Posted May 21, 2025 According to the user manual, my TV is able to playback a slew of audio codecs. However I am seeing that my freshly ripped movies are being transcoded due to the audio. I believe I have the bitrate limited to what the TV can handle, but I was wanting to test it. In my mind, it made sense to disable transcoding to that device. But like I said, I can't find the setting. I can only find the user level setting. I will just have to remember change that setting.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 Only options are per user as there are no device settings. But specifics on audio are needed as TVs are limited or should say don't play well with say TrueHD. As Emby is getting playback capabilities back from the device.
marriedman 85 Posted May 21, 2025 Author Posted May 21, 2025 I believe I was just confused by the marketing of my Samsung TV/Soundbar. Atmos, Dolby Digital, Digital+, and then of course the TrueHD all look similar enough on the spec sheets that I may have lumped them together. Also, the app can't passthrough audio to the soundbar. Only another device have have it's audio passed through. Once again, I assumed too much. I guess I will never learn. 1
Neminem 1518 Posted May 21, 2025 Posted May 21, 2025 No worries mate, we live, and we sometime learn Done that a lot, with smart android boxed, just to see or try the latest and new. But until now returned to my trusty old shield.
