CraigR4 3 Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 I have Emby server installed on my QNAP server. It is running fine, but when i launch the app, by default it sets the url to use https: and the port number to 8920. I can change the path in the browser to use http and 8096, but cant find a way to make it use http by default on the lan
CraigR4 3 Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 sure, i could do that, but on my NAS, i should be able to open the correct url by default when I launch the server app. 1

Neminem 1515 Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 (edited) Ha ha @Lukenice answer but NOT useful. Why default to 8920 when SSL is not setup ??? Why not default to 8096 and make it a option, if SSL is setup and enabled ? Its just confusing your users. And if they don't know better you will get the same support question over and over again. It's not our choice. We declare port 8920 in the app manifest and therefore QNAP wants to use it. If we take 8920 out of the manifest then it will use 8096, but then the server will be denied permission to use 8920 if you try to setup SSL after that. 1
CraigR4 3 Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 I suppose my next question should be - how do i set up https:// on a lan, (and why would I) ?

CraigR4 3 Posted May 22, 2025 Author Posted May 22, 2025 Ok, I checked out the post, but its all about setting up SSL and DDNS for remote access, - helpful but nothing to do with a LAN, which was my original question

I have an old QNAP running QTS 4.3.3.2784 and when I click on Open on the AppCenter My Apps Emby Server, it launches as http on 8096 We declare in the .config/qpkg.conf file both ports and they are declared as Web_Port = 8096 Web_SSL_Port = 8920 Not sure why it is picking up the SSL port for you
mapotter99 0 Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 (edited) Just chiming in to say I have the same issue... Opening the Emby server from the QNAP GUI only works for the HTTPS port (8920 by default). Am I correct that, short of paying for an SSL certificate, there is no way to access the server through the QNAP GUI? We must create a separate bookmark to the local HTTP port (8096 by default)? I assume the QNAP forces the HTTPS when both options are declared. Edited December 15, 2025 by mapotter99
