Bigdogaustintx 0 Posted May 18, 2025 Posted May 18, 2025 I'm about to pull my hair out I installed emby on my server computer got it all up and running then went to my fire cube installed the app no problems whatsoever it was able to connect to the server I was so excited. Then I went and worked on the metadata for some of the movies on the server computer and when I went back to my fire cube no matter what I do I'm unable to connect again. I've read everything I could find online I've logged into my router it shows the server and the port forwarding everything's working on that side but on the fire cube side it will never connect to the server I didn't change a thing just some metadata and now it won't work
Bart91106 2 Posted May 18, 2025 Posted May 18, 2025 Can you connect via the Emby app on your phone to your Emby server? Also check your Emby server for the IP address of the server. Restart, try again.
Bigdogaustintx 0 Posted May 18, 2025 Author Posted May 18, 2025 Thank you let me read all that and and I will come back with what is requested or that I figured it out. It was just frustrating as I installed it on my computer installed it on my fire cube and there it was I was watching movies I tested it everything was great then when I change some metadata worked on all the different movies fix them and was ready to watch a movie it wouldn't connect to the server and I was very frustrated I will read all the help files on here and try to figure it out thanks again
Bigdogaustintx 0 Posted May 19, 2025 Author Posted May 19, 2025 OK... I am not real good when it comes to firewall issues but I think I found the problem. Windows Firewall. I got it open and looked and it showed that Emby was allowed but not sure if that was only outbound and nothing inbound so my firecube could connect. The reason I say this is I turned off Windows Firewall and boom all is working on my firecubes in both the media room and bedroom. Since my server computer is just being used for media nothing else, can I just keep my windows firewall turned off and unplug the computer from the router ( which is what I did when I left for work today) and plug it back up when I want to watch a movie? or is that a bad idea?
ebr 16169 Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 I would figure out the real issue and address it. Make sure your network is set to "Private" and not "Public" for starters.
