jimal 1 Posted May 17, 2025 Posted May 17, 2025 A couple of weeks ago Emby stopped connecting to my HDHomeRun tuner. The tuner is visible to the HDHomeRun Roku app, so it wouldn't appear to be a problem with the tuner itself. Emby could neither "discover" the tuner, nor was it able to connect to it when I put in the tuner's IP address. I also tried disabling DNLA, but no difference. I've attached a log that was generated after an Emby reboot and attempt to both discover and directly connect via IP address. Thanks, Jim embyserver.txt
jimal 1 Posted May 17, 2025 Author Posted May 17, 2025 (edited) Also: - I'm running MacOS 15.5. However, it wasn't able to connect on 15.4x either. - I've tried upgrading the firmware on the HDHomeRun - I can connect to the tuner from the same Mac that I'm running the Emby server. Luke 42077 Posted May 17, 2025 Posted May 17, 2025 Hi there, are you sure you have the correct ip address for the tuner? 2025-05-17 12:13:39.376 Error HttpClient: Error getting response from http://192.168.1.121/discover.json *** Error Report *** Version: 4.8.11.0 Command line: /Applications/EmbyServer.app/Contents/MacOS/EmbyServer.dll -noautorunwebapp Operating system: Darwin 24.5.0 Darwin Kernel Version 24.5.0: Tue Apr 22 19:54:43 PDT 2025; root:xnu-11417.121.6~2/RELEASE_ARM64_T8132 Framework: .NET 6.0.36 OS/Process: arm64/arm64 Runtime: Applications/EmbyServer.app/Contents/MacOS/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 10 Data path: /Users/jallen/.config/emby-server Application path: /Applications/EmbyServer.app/Contents/MacOS MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: No route to host (192.168.1.121:80) What happens if you put the tuner ip address into a web browser address bar, what comes up?
jimal 1 Posted May 18, 2025 Author Posted May 18, 2025 (edited) Yes; I confirmed the address in my router. And I can access the tuner web-server with a browser from the same Mac that hosts my Emby server. Here's the tuner's JSON response if I call "http://192.168.1.121/discover.json": {"FriendlyName":"HDHomeRun FLEX DUO","ModelNumber":"HDFX-2US","FirmwareName":"hdhomerun_dvr_atsc","FirmwareVersion":"20250506","DeviceID":"1094907A","DeviceAuth":"Atmi5cSmSwYnDnRQ4RFCkTzK","BaseURL":"http://192.168.1.121","LineupURL":"http://192.168.1.121/lineup.json","TunerCount":2} Edited May 18, 2025 by jimal
Solution jimal 1 Posted May 18, 2025 Author Solution Posted May 18, 2025 OK -- well, I found the problem. I guess a previous OS update changed the local network access rights for Emby. For anyone else who might have this problem check: Settings->Privacy and Security->Local Network. Thanks and sorry for the turbulence. 1

Unfortunately I think this can also happen periodically even without an iOS update.
