NVIDIA T400 + Synology DS1621+ (Video preview thumbnail extraction)

Hi,

I want to clarify the issue with video preview thumbnail extraction using NVIDIA T400 installed on Synology DS1621+, for some reason this task is performed only by the built-in Rysen processor without using a video accelerator, although, for example, video transcoding successfully uses an external video adapter.

Thumbnail extraction is not HW accelerated process in any system, it's CPU-only task.

Basically, it all comes down to this:

Thank you. And if there is a "scan media library", the video card cannot be used either?

There is nothing in the "Scan media library" task that would require GPU usage - however, depending on your library settings, it might trigger other scheduled tasks (video preview thumbnails extraction, intro detection...) which are all CPU-only tasks.

In this case, I wonder why my DS920+ did all the work on the library in a couple of hours, but the DS1821+ is suffering for the second day and will not finish this work with the same settings?

There shouldn't be such considerable difference with all settings being identical - so, wild guess would be they are not, maybe you missed a tickbox somewhere? Can you share a screenshot of both servers library setup?
