Julian’s Music Server 0 Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Hello, just setting up Emby on my Synology NAS, thought I would try it away from the Synology stock media server. However, I notice several albums are duplicated by track. ie same album with 7 tracks has 7 listings one for each track. It didn't do this on the stock media server so wondered if I've done something here & is there a way I can sort them back correctly?.
Luke 42077 Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Hi, most likely your tracks have different albumartist values: Music Naming If you can correct this, then that should resolve this.
Julian’s Music Server 0 Posted May 15, 2025 Author Posted May 15, 2025 OK thanks, makes sense. Could you give me a steer where to adjust/alter these? Thank you
Luke 42077 Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 @Julian’s Music Serverwhat music tagging software do you use? @user24what do you suggest?
user24 313 Posted June 1, 2025 Posted June 1, 2025 With the Dolly Parton Album example, I'd guess that your Album Artist field is blank and also that you have two different Album titles ("Blue Smoke" and "Blue Smoke - The Best Of"). Changing Album Artist to "Dolly Parton" and Album to "Blue Smoke" for all Songs should result in one Album. This can likely easily be fixed with any music tagging software, but I would recommend Mp3tag. Here is how to do it: Load in the Album (Change Directory - green tick folder icon) and Select All the files (blue sheet icon) of the Album. You can then simply manually update the info in the LHS Tag Panel for all songs at once. It's also possible to use Tag Sources to import the data from MusicBrainz if you want to. Note; When you start with Mp3tag the LHS Tag Panel and RHS columns will be the default view, which is a bit different from my customized view shown above - but it will still work the same. Save the required changes in Mp3tag and then Scan the parent folder in Emby to import the changes into Emby. If you are still having Album Artist issues, then View>Extended Tags in Mp3tag to see all tags and check for other possible issues (sometimes there might be both "Album Artist" and "AlbumArtist" tags that are different from each other). Then, just follow the same method for the B&W Live Album... Hopefully that's enough info to get you started? It might seem a bit complicated if you're not familiar with Mp3tag, but it's very easy once you get the hang of it. Let us know how you get on. Cheers! 1
Julian’s Music Server 0 Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 Hello, appreciate your help here. Makes sense. Since my original post I've kind of started to individually update the information or re-rip the CD's because there's an option when ripping to set the detail you mentioned. A bit long winded but slowly I can wok through them. Do you know if remote streaming from the NAS to mobile device app operates for free or is there a charge using the Emby app for this function? Thank you very much for you help, much appreciated. Julian

Julian @Julian’s Music Serversome Emby apps such as android, windows and iOS require Emby Premiere, while others such as the web app and Roku are free. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
