User IP address in dashboard -> User Activity listing and in currently playing box

Hi,

 

I would like to request a feature where the user's IP address is displayed in the Activity listings and in the currently playing box (you know when they are playing a movie) in the DASHBOARD area.  There are many reasons for wanting this, not that it matters, but, I want to see where users are logging in from (such as if they are sharing their account credentials with other people), I want to know which device in the house was playing which movie (yes, I realize I can set up an account for every device in the house and do it that way too, but IP address is very useful), and other reasons.  Perhaps there is already a way to do this and I do not yet know as I am fairly new to EMBY.

User's IP is already shown in Activity list on user login. 

Ditto for Currently playing box, do you not have it displayed? 

You can also install Playback Reporting plugin which'll give you all that information (and more); note that it tracks users/sessions only from the time of installation.

Thank  you for pointing out that the IP address is there when they are actively watching a movie.  I never noticed that.  I am new to EMBY for still getting used to things.  But, I did notice it's not displayed in the activity listing (except for user login).  Ok, so here is my problem (restated after being corrected);

In the activity listing I (clicking the activity heading to get the extended listings) I see an entry like this (asterisks to mask sensitive data in this forum);

****** Has Authenticated on SERVER

Am I missing something?  I do not see an IP address there at all.  Nor do I see an IP address on any of the entries in the activity listing.

Typical entries are like (including the one above);

****** has finished playing ******* on Chrome Windows

Anyway, unless I happen to catch a glimpse of when a user is activity playing a movie I never seem to see an IP address.  Perhaps I am just not seeing it or something.

I will try the recommended Playback Reporting Plugin.

Yes, you should see Device and IP there (and that is the only entry where you'd see it AFAIK). @Luke

Another thing is if you check out the devices section then you can see the last used ip address for the device.

Pretty sure only authentication shows device/ip in activity log.

Now that users are cache you don't see this that often unless specifically logged out and login back in.

Ah, that might explain it.  Thank you everyone.

I wish EMBY just listed the IP in all the activity entries to make life simpler though.

 

I tried the Playback Reporting plugin.  That works for me.  Thanks Grim Reaper for that suggestion.

Well Luke pointed you in the right direction if you go to Devices and change to Table view you will see this info
