Plugin: EmbyIcons release.

This plugin seems to be designed for non-English-speaking countries, language learners, and avid collectors of movies and TV shows. Most people collect videos in their native language.

Consider developing a separate plugin to identify a film’s production/release country. It could pull data from Emby’s media info or video metadata, but country info fields in video files’ metadata are rarely used. Adding a "Show Country Icons" option would overcrowd posters.

If we add the following to PluginOptions.cs:

[DisplayName("Show Country Icons")]
[Description("Enable or disable overlaying country icons.")]
public bool ShowCountryIcons { get; set; }

Displaying three lines icons (flags for subtitles, audio tracks, and country) would clutter the poster space further. A standalone plugin would minimize file size.

Emby appears to use ISO 639-2/B (e.g., chi for Chinese) instead of newer standards like ISO 639-2/T or ISO 639-3 (zho).

I've got a question.

Does this plugin modifies all poster.jpg files or is it just an add to emby visualization shown when poster are loaded in web app?

I mean is the first run long as it has to scan all library?

I appreciate the suggestion, but i have no real interest in doing this as the plugin was simply made because CoverArt lacked the functionality of multiple audio and subtitle tracks.
It's a good idea though and i thank you many times for the suggestion!

It doesn't modify the poster, instead it overlays the icons via Emby's internal system.
So icons are dynamically drawn and overlayed on the posters as needed and put in the cache for later use.
This also means that if you uninstall the plugin the posters are intact and not needing a re-download.

The last update should have made it so a metadata refresh is not needed any more.
I say "should" because It might need it on rare occasions but then it's Emby it self that needs it most likely.

Just to add to this.

When I have been testing this GREAT plugin.

I have removed the old plugin, done a server restart, to clear images.

The posters returned to original.

Doing this also gave me a clean slate, to test the new version.

Loaded the new version of the plugin.

And tested again.

None of my original poster where ever changed.

This does not matter if your media files metadata is not set up right.

Yes they are very good plugins and I can only recommend them!

For me they lacked two things I wanted.
Iconic lacked custom icons and Cover art lacked being able to show more than one icon for languages.
So I made this plugin.

If the developers of those pluginsread this. Please don't have this plugin stop you from making similar functions!!

Did a little test of that plugin.
I changed the nuget packages and some version numbers in the csproj, seems to work stable on non beta version 4.8.11.0 of Emby in case you are interested.
At your own risk if you do this but works fine here as far a i can see.

Not sure how possible it is, but a change to the series poster logic might be helpful for some, myself included. In my anime library, there are many times when I have all of the seasons in multiple languages, but the specials are only in Japanese. Would it be possible to amend it so that all available languages are on the series poster, but leave it so the seasons only show when all episodes inside them have the languages (the current way its working)?

Not as it works atm.

Btw is it possible for you to edit the main post here to remove the "Please remember to restart your server after you change settings." please?

Personally, I don't think I'd ever use only one or the other, but some users might have different opinion?

I could see it being useful if you could do it on a per-library basis, but other than that I would probably just all-or-nothing myself.

Don't know how inclined you are towards accommodating somewhat edge usage-cases and how complex the logic you're willing to implement is, but if you're up for a challenge just ping, got one for you.

Will still require a file scan or in rare occasions a metadata refresh of that specific series.

Great stuff. 

A bit of a preamble to provide some perspective: in a part of the world I come from (Balkans, ex-Yu), we basically deal in three languages: Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian; though they are by definition "different" languages, they share vast majority of words, grammar etc. basically making them practically "same" language for the purpose of understanding/reading/writing, meaning we all generally understand each others and can read/write respective/any of the three languages (as long as Latin alphabet is used), legacy of the old federation and its official unified language before countries split. Similarly, on all the subtitle sites, one'll usually find any/all three of them, it often being the same file with just the language code changed in the filename, as it practically makes little to no difference in which language subtitle text within is actually written. As a result of that, any given episode can have either of those languages, two of them or all three of them, meaning that a season of episodes can actually be fully subtitled (as any combination of those works), but not in a strictly "single" language (though for all intents and purposes it is), and consequently no icon on series poster. 

For reference, Iconic elegantly works around that by showing a single badge in case multiple rules exist/are satisfied where each rule share same badge; alas, that only works on episode level (as you're aware, Iconic doesn't overlay series posters with MediaStream rules), so user is unaware of that until drilled down to season/episode level, making it highly inefficient compared to EmbyIcons that overlay series poster in library view. 

What is actually needed would be some multi-language logic where if all episodes of a show contain any/all of the languages (in any combination, example E01:Croatian, E02:Bosnian, E03:Serbian, E04:Croatian+Bosnian etc.), it'd be considered fully subtitled and an icon ovelayed on Series poster.

Hope that makes sense when put in words from non-English native speaker.

We sort of have the same thing in Scandinavia where Denmark, Norway and Sweden have almost the same language.
Maybe i can make a setting for the TV posters that something in the line of "If contains all these languages or all languages together then show this icon"

I'm not the author of the plugin and i don't know if he would want me to do that.
So all i'm going to do is tell you what i said in the previous post.

Change the version number required and changed the Emby nuget versions to current Emby. Use for example Visual Studio for this.
At your own risk though, while i doubt there's anything that needs the beta i don't know for sure.
