I just tried out a new plugin (Rating Sync) that updates existing ratings. Some movies or series, e.g., Tulsa King, only had an IMDB rating. Now the Rotten Tomatoes rating has been added. When I open Tulsa King, it is also displayed. However, only the IMDB rating is visible on the cover. Do I need to restart EmbyIcon for new or changed ratings to be displayed? Thanks for your help. I don't know how Ratings Sync work so it hard to say. Try and do a rescan of the libraries.

It looks like Ratings Sync simply updates the ratings and then enters them into the metadata. In the Scrrenshot, you can see that Rotten Tomatoes has a rating, but it is not displayed on the cover. I rescanned the Emby library and also updated the metadata for Tulsa King. That didn't help. It looks to me like EmbyIcons needs to scan the library again to recognize that a change has now taken place in the metadata. How can I get EmbyIcons to do that? Greets Helix

EmbyIcons was never designed to have ratings update like that, sorry. I will see what i can do but can't promise anything as it would be a big change to make. 1

I can't get ratings-sync to work right for me as the webpages won't send me an API key i can use for testing so it's hard for me to diagnose. I have changed the caching for the rotten tomatoes rating slightly so it should read it and change it if it has been updated. Can you please test if it worked? EmbyIcons.dll 1
Doppellhelix 17 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Hi, Thank you very much for your work. At first glance, it looks pretty good. At least my example with Tulsa King now has a Rotten Tomatoes icon. Now I just need to see if the icons change when the rating changes. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know. Best regards, Helix

I adapted the rating-sync plugin in a way to very regularly update IMDb ratings, especially for newly released content where the ratings fluctuate a lot. It would be great if embyicons could pick up those change, otherwise it's confusing because the icon and the actual rating that is shown in emby is often different. Right now I have to do a full cache clear via the troubleshooting tab to get the ratings updated in the icons.

thynan 6 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Hey, thanks a lot for this! I tested it and it looks definitely better than before. It's a bit tricky to test since there is also browser cache involved so it's not perfectly refreshing everything, but what I can say after testing a bit is this: - If I change community ratings on episodes, and then reload emby in an incognito window to remove local browser cache from the equation, then everything is updated correctly. So that's perfect. - If I change a community rating on an episode, then the rating is immediately updated on the picture of the episode (when I'm in the detail view of the episode in the browser), but it is not immediately updated in the smaller picture that shows all the episodes of the season. I don't know if this is something you can fix in your plugin. I assume again that this is due to local caching in the browser/app, because if I check it in a different browser, or in incognito mode, then it shows up as refreshed with the correctly updated rating. In any case, I think this is already good enough, and from my point of view you don't need to optimize this further. - A small glitch that I found out when testing: When I set the community Rating to "0", then Emby will show the field as empty after saving. But EmbyIcons will immediately show a rating of "10". I will do some additional testing later, but for now thanks making those changes.

yocker 1247 Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 (edited) New version up (5.50.0) on yocksers/EmbyIcons Github. Added: Support for popcorn-o-meter. Note: requires mdblist API. Changed: Rating scores now update when being updated in Emby. Edited February 8 by yocker 1
yocker 1247 Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 @sh0rtyyour reaction reminds me that I owe you an apology. The popcorn o meter rating was an idea from your script. Didn't know mdblist had a free API for that. So better late than ever, many thanks! For those curious, he has made a brilliant spotlight widget that can be found at: 2

For those curious, he has made a brilliant spotlight widget that can be found at: No problem, didn't even think about that. MDBList delivers everything, from IMDb over TMDB to RogerEbert. Only thing they can't provide is the Verified Hot Badge from RT because these criterias are not calculatable via simple math (Criterias are splitted in regional or nationwide cinema releases + some movies got the badge randomly without matching the criterias). I needed to use a CORS proxy to make the Spotlight a 100% match regarding Verified Hot. Edited February 9 by sh0rty 1
ISeeTWizard 29 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Hi You write for the mdblist this description: Required for Popcorn-O-Meter (Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score) ratings. Get your free API key from mdblist.com/api Unfortunately this leads into an error page... But you can find in the doc of mdblist this: API key can be generated for free in mdblist.com preferences. Here - very at the bottom, you can find the point to generate your API key I don't know if it's different for you but at least for me it looks like that 1

The plugin needs to be installed in the programdata\plugins folder. If that doesn't work then please add your log file and i will take a look at it.
liuhangbj 2 Posted Monday at 12:38 AM Posted Monday at 12:38 AM Ja, It''s really weird. Other plugins in the same folder work fine. The path is /User/[my-username]/.config/emby-server/plugin. Would you make it online in emby's plugin store? I just want to display IMDB Rating on posters without refresh Posters, because many of them are manual picked. It's the best way to solve it if iconic can support rating display.
