Ahh thank you, that did the trick!
But somehow, this works only like 50% of the time or doesnt take into account all libraries I selected

Forgot to say that you also need to have the libraries for those shows to be abled but the show icons for episodes and shows options needs to be enabled.

Here is a picture of what I mean. It adds the overlay/icons on 1 of 2 4K libraries (so there should be 2 images with the 4K icon) - (which I selected in the settings). So somehow it misses 1 library or doesn't apply it to the thumbnail. It works on the poster itself and within the library as well. Just not on the continue watching.

Attached is also a picture of the settings.image.thumb.png.eee059a5bcfef7ac0d27ffa37f25adbf.pngimage.thumb.png.b1b2e1788cd4dbb480500e2d15430c62.png

That's strange, it should work.

I have tried replicating it with the Blackadder show making two copies of the show and put them in separate libraries.
Works here.

Hate to ask but can you take a screenshot of what libraries you have enabled?
My only hunch so far as to what can be wrong is that it i might have missed a kind of poster, thumbnail, banner that Emby shows and uses for one of your libraries or that it might be a browser problem.
You can try Alt-shift-r to clear the cache of the browser.

I will look into it but as i can't replicate the problem it might be hard to find the solution, sorry!!

Edit:
Only way i can replicate it on the continue watching section is if i disable one library.

Only problem i have is one i can't solve and that is Emby seeing the 2 separate series as one.

I had this issue with South Park.

It turnes out I did not have a thumb picture.

No thumb.

If not thumb Emby falls back to Backdrop.

Notice the south park sign move 😉

That's very interesting!!
I *MIGHT* be able to make it use the backdrops as fallback if there is no thumb.
Never thought that Emby used backdrops instead because i thought they were just for.. Well.. Backdrops. :)

Nice find, thank you!

Np 😁

But will that put icons on the backdrop when entering series ?

Hmmm.. That is a possibility i will have to avoid.

I will have to experiment a little and see what possible since i can't work around what Emby gives.
For now at least people will have to make sure to provide thumbs for the series if they want icons in the continue watching. Guess there will always be some limitations with a plugin like this.

Edit:
Forgot to say, it might be impossible to have it show episode icons instead of TV show icons because Emby shows the poster for TV shows only in the continue watching.

That was actually the reason!

Let's see if I can make Emby search for the missing thumb images in this one library.

Well added season posters for now, i still don't see the need for it but you guys asked for it. :)

@eMoOak I belive you were one of those asking for it.

WARNING!!!!
This is a beta.

Please note:
While this new feature alone isn't much of a slow down, on (very) small and old systems all the features together might be rather heavy hence why lite modes are available.

@NeminemCould use some testing since you volunteered .;)

Also looked more into the continue watching, i can't see a way to add episode icons instead of TV show icons since Emby only gives the poster for TV shows.
Using backdrop as a fallback does indeed seem to add icons to the backdrops them self, not a pretty sight. ;)

So this does not seem possible.

@yockerlooks good on my system.

It loaded instantly on my test server, so no slowdown.

Yes, I suspected that would happen.

Nice, good to hear it works and i didn't mess up again. :)

Have another you can test as well if you want. I added some stuff i have been working on but didn't  get around to add because i've been sick.
I added filename checks so people can enter a word, like for example "remux" and the name of the icon to follow that like remux again.
If a movie has "remux" in the filename then an icon named source.remux.png will be shown on the movie poster.
Hard to explain better but the settings should be rather simple.

Still need to clarify some things in the settings though like it doesn't work unless you use custom icons as there are no icons built in for it, i can't guess what people would name them so impossible to add them. :)

I know there are no default icons for this, so I threw together some .png icons to try this version out, but unfortunately nothing is showing up.  I've added about 20 entries to Mapping, things like "international", "director's cut", "upscale", etc.  All icons seem to be named correctly (source.text-word.png, with dashes for multiple words/white spaces).

Some debugging thoughts:

Could having multiple versions in the same directory cause a conflict?  Say, both the default movie and another copy appended with "(Upscale)".

Could the parentheses themselves be causing problems (should Mapping have "(Upscale)" as the trigger text instead of just the word "Upscale")?

Could having multiple Mapping triggers for the same icon cause a problem?  Would having "Extended", "Expanded", and "Enhanced" all mapped to use the same icon cause conflicts?

Similarly, would having Source icon names that are partially duplicated cause a conflict?  Like "source.alternate.png" and "source.alt.png"?  In this case would the text "Alt" trigger both icons?

I don't see any of my icons showing up on the Sample icon location pic. Does the pic not try to display Source icons (because there are no defaults to fall back to)?

I'm presuming Source icons only show up on videos recognized as Movies, and not Series (or any video at all).

Looking forward to this expansion, it has some great possibilities!

Okay, messed around with the files some more.  It appears that having two movies Grouped together causes problems.  I had Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse grouped as one,  Split them apart into Theatrical and Enhanced, and the Source icons for Enhanced (source.extended.png) showed up.  The Theatrical icon, however, has not (not for Mappings of "theatrical", "theatrical cut", nor "theatrical edition").

Neither Reloading the plugin nor flushing the icon cache brought the Theatrical icon up.

Grouping them together again makes the Enhanced icon disappear.  I think this may be because Grouping them lists the Theatrical version before Enhanced (thus going by file age).

Separating them the Enhanced version regains the proper icon, while Theatrical sill does not show.

Try this version, it should fix it.

Thanks a lot for the season posters @yocker! I really appreciate the work you've done. They make the whole experience feel more complete (to me).

It mostly did.  I'm guessing it doesn't work with movies in a Mixed type of library?
