The banners look like they are from a plugin called CoverArt. EmbyIcons only does the little icons for languages, codecs, etc., no banners. Fallback icons were added into the plugin for people who can't grant permissions to use custom icon, like on Arch, so that the plugin could still render even without custom icons. From your screenshots, I don't see any icon that are being rendered by EmbyIcons.

Betting the version of the DLL I have predates this addition, cause that was downloaded probably over two weeks ago. I have the latest. I replace the one and see what I get.

Simply no. The cases come from this plugin and I bet you have that installed as well.

I was referring to this plugin and the extra steps he took for Arch and other Linux systems that have permissions issues.

@yockerwill be add the lastest dll of your's in a bit, but wanted to clarify something. The issue with this stuff in Arch is all on Emby. No other app like this locks down necessary folder that need to be readily editable. How that Emby folder is handled needs to be Addressed. Willing to bet if you built this for PLEX there would be no issue with it working out of the gate for everyone as you originally wrote it.

Yes i agree it looks to be on Emby.
The built in icons circumvent this by having them directly inside the plugin, disadvantage is you can only use the icons supplied.

No problem at all! :)

If you know how to use Visual Studio you can add new icons to the code it self, the icons are in Embeddedicons/
Just remember the icons use the naming convention hdr_ instead of hdr. (as in a "_" instead of a "." as the first seperator) as other wise they would be registered as some region thing.
You can add more than what are already there as long you use the correct naming convention as well.

Remember to make them a embedded resource in the settings and you are off to the races after a compile.

You don't need to know how to code at all for this to work.

Open the code with the csproj file, add icons to the Embeddedicons folder, right click the icons in the folder view, select properties and in the first drop down menu choose "embedded resources on the added icons.
Then go to the top of visual studio, go to build and press build solution.

In the folder where you opened the csproj file you go to bin/debug/net6.0/ and the dll will be there.

Thank you for this nice plugin!

Could you add the possibility to show overlays on TV show seasons posters?

Sorry for my short answer last time, i have been incredibly sick the last two weeks so didn't feel like writing more than that answer.

Anyway..
It's a feature that has been asked about before but i don't think i will ever make it because i personally don't think it will be a useful addition.
The TV show poster already shows if all episodes have a property or not plus adding it to the season posters would add more work to the plugin and it's rather heavy already with all the series/collection aggregation it has to do.

Never say never though, it *MIGHT* be added one day.
I do have one or two more features i plan to look at when i get well, after that i think the plugin might be feature complete as i have no idea what would be a good addition to it.

Thank you for the kinds words!! :)

Planning the work on the last couple of features for the plugin (probably THE last features to be added as i'm planning to put the plugin in maintenance mode as i don't really see anything useful that can be added.).

I'm thinking of adding icons for number of seasons and episodes in the TV show.
Any interest for this?
If so would you would like it? Separate icons for each number like season.1.png or epi.24.png? Maybe just one template icon where the number gets dynamically written or like with the IMDb rating with an icon and text next to it?

If you think these new features would be useless then also please write that! ;)

Hi!

Thank you for your answer. I thought it would be useful for TV shows that mix seasons in different qualities (UHD, HD, SD...). Overlays on seasons posters could help to identify which seasons need a quality upgrade at a glance 🙂

I'll look into it but for looking for what needs upgrades and such, can i suggest Radarr (movies),  Sonarr (TV shows) and Bazarr (subtitles)?
They are genius pieces of software i don't know how i could live without. :)
They can automatically keep an eye on your collections, update them and download new stuff when available and they can be configured in any way you want them.

There are also tools in the settings page that can be used to see what is missing for TV shows and such.

Is there any way to get the overlays on the "continue watching" images? -- It would be nice to easily see the 4K version

Enable banners or thumbnails.
Can't remember which one does it. :)

Ahh thank you, that did the trick!
But somehow, this works only like 50% of the time or doesnt take into account all libraries I selected

It shows the same icons as for TV shows. So if all episodes have fx. english audio the english icons will be shown.
I know It's not optimal that way and it's something i'm planning to fix at some point so it shows it for the episodes instead of TV shows.

Will give it high priority next time i mess with it.
