Plugin: EmbyIcons release.

Thanks for this awesome plugin!  
It's exactly what was missing all the time in Iconic or CoverArt and i do not expect it to be added there because it seems to be very niche for the primary audience of emby to have multilanguage movies.
You really should think about putting into the official plugin catalog.  
I would even pay a one-time-fee for it in the store so you can buy some beers

Sadly it can't be added to the catalog because it doesn't support all Emby servers as it uses Skia for the drawing only and doesn't have a fallback for those that don't.
One of these days i might look into adding that.

Forgot to say, i'm sure CoverArt and Iconic will get the the same features as well at some point.

Season posters don't get icons added. Check the main poster for the series.

Yes of course, for 90% of tv shows all good, i just noticed that on newly added shows nothing shows up on main poster.

Try pressing the "clear icon cache button" or do a metascan with forced new images on the shows you have problems with.
If that doesn't work report back to me and i will look at it asap.

I have a new beta version if you guys are willing to test.

I added a Troubleshooter/diagnostic tool.
This can be used to see what episodes are the reason som overlays might not be shown.
Have to admit i'm debating with my self if this should even be added as it feels a little outside the plugin some how.

Well.. That beta didn't have much interest but maybe this one will.

Added:
1. PNG - Jpeg passthrough. This option will slightly increase drawing performance as the plugin will no longer have to convert the posters Emby get from like IMDb.
    Auto - Let it passthrough as it sees fit (recommended)
    Jpeg - Convert everything to jpeg - Fast but not as fast as auto.
    PNG - Convert everything to PNG - This is the slowest option.
    Note: I'm considering removing them all and just have the auto option on all the time. If you guys want the options to stay then please say so.
2. Troubleshooter. This tool will help show why some icons might not show on TV show posters.

Changed:
1. Various small stuff under the hood.

Fixed:
1. Fixed what could be a race condition on some systems causing some overlays not to show. (Very rare!)
2. Made the TV show aggregation a little more robust.

Love this plugin, I've been scouring my video collection to get everything nice and tidy, making custom icons since you first started the project.  Looking forward to future updates.

This last beta seems to have broken a few things for me.  Every video I have that is 1080p is now showing the 1080i icon.  Icon Manager shows the 1080i icon is in use but shows 1080p as "not needed". Other resolutions are behaving fine.

No Custom Tag icons are working anymore, even though Icon Manager shows the icons are there and are being used. Nevermind, missed the part where spaces in icon titles now require dashes.

The Rating tag is no longer showing.  This isn't an option under Icon Manager to verify, but also isn't showing up on the Preview image.

Again, love the plugin and your diligence in frequent updates.

Please provide me with a screen shot of the video properties of one of the videos that it displays 1080i for.



Edit:
I found the problems and fixed them.
I had by mistake changed the rating.imdb.png (jpg) to rating.score.png.

Also i have been trying to make a fallback for the resolution and failed to look at if the video was interlaced.
I have removed the fallback so it's back to normal.

Try this version and please report back if everything is fixed.

Time for another sneak peak at what i'm working on now.





Trying to make aspect ratios easier.
It will automatically show the most common aspect ratio (for example 40x17 gets turned into 2:40 as it's what it's more common known as).
The calculator will help people find out what a specific aspect ratio will be converted into as the nearest common one.

This should help with not having to have hundeds of aspect ratios to keep track of.

Don't know if people want it but i thought it would be neat.

Option to exclude Specials folder in TV series. What happens now, i have Tv show with all subs in my language, but poster has no overlay for my languages because specials miss those languages, but whole show HAS subtitles in my language...

Yeah, that would likely be something that should be added.
I usually don't have any specials in my collection so have missed that it could be a problem.

I will look into adding it in next release!

The excluding of specials would be really helpful for me as well!

 

One other enhancement idea: using the profiles in the icon manager. Right now, it scans all the libraries, but I don't have a profile for all libraries. Being able to scan based on my profiles would make it so I can identify specifically what is missing that needs to be addressed.

New beta, please test every single little setting to the point that it's silly as i fixed the overlays not getting added or removed when enabling or disabling some settings without having to do a scan or metadata refresh.

Added:
1. Aspect ratio snap, this will calculate weird aspect ratios to the nearest common known aspect ratio within a certain radius.
    This is to avoid having to have an icon for every single strange aspect ratio out there.
2. Aspect ratio calculator in the troubleshooter to see what aspect ratios will be shown and icon needed for any aspect ratio.
3. Option to disable series specials from the TV show aggregation calculation so that TV show specials will not be counted towards what icons will be shown.

Changes:
1. Changed the caching system slightly to be more robust. This is not something anyone should notice.

Fixed:
1. Overlays should now correctly get added or removed without a need to do a scan or metadata refresh, this might still be needed in some edge cases outside my control.
2. Overlays getting stale on episode posters in season view.

Again please, PLEASE, test this to the point where it begs for mercy!
I want this one to be as close to perfect as possible and it's hard to test everything my self without getting cross eyed.

Yeah, i never really got around to adding many embedded icons so some are bound to be missing.
I will look into adding more at some point, i've been dreaming of having a couple of collections to choose from, it's low priority right now though as people can use their own.
