PS: By the way as this are now png and the old jpg I didn't have the issue with the old image beeing showed instead of the new one

I have another small questions for maybe a later version:

You see the rating on the top left - it's in white with a small black line around.

On the first screenshot it's +- ok but when you have your movies listed and the movie has a white background poster it's sometimes very difficult to read
I think maybe a small transparent badge background or so would help here instead of just showing the number even that it could have been my idea to put the line around as I always do it like that lol

It's a maybe feature request for the future

I can easily change the border size on the font as it's just a number in the code.

First one or the second one? The second one might have gotten a little thick.
Personally i like the second one but with a sliiiiiightly smaller border.

Say if you like any and i will add it to the next version.

Yeah I think too the second ons is better - need to see it fully in action but I think it's ok

I just made this in paint as an example.
My idea is that people can choose between this and maybe a star plus choose their own color for it.

As you made the request i'm asking you what you think of the idea..
Other people are ofc. also welcome to come with comments and ideas on it.

Looks way better than the actual version

Especially as I now changed my language icons to round ones using Canva - my wife liked it more like this 

 

Maybe even the option to display the TMDB Logo or not as no other rating is shown

I'm finalizing the background for the score as we speak.

You can remove the imdb.png from the icons folder and it will just show the score, you can also change it to some other logo.

As @Neminemhasn't found any breaking bugs i think i can let more people try the new version as well.

I've been working on this for a while now along side the now old version.

This is a big change to the plugin, most the code has been changed and even rewritten.
This was done to make it less patchy after all the additions made to the plugin and remove some repeating logic plus squeeze the very last bit of performance out of it as possible.

Added:

1) Setting to add a background, circle or square to the community score, what color and transparency it should be.

Changed:

1. Most of the code has been rewritten to improve it and remove redundant code.
2. Changed the cache pruning to only prune the least used data so data used often will stay and improve performance. If it is set a bit to aggressive then please report back to me and i will change the timer on it slightly.
3. Removed the tag option from the settings as it was no longer needed. For using tags you just need to provide an icon with the right name and set a tag on a movie/series in Emby.
4. The refresh icons button has been removed, instead the plugin will now redraw all overlays on Emby server restart. This will ensure no stale icons and no memory leaks. The setting might return in the future when i have refined the setting to work better.
5. Changed to using Embys internal detection for resolutions instead of using a list in the plugin it self. This should improve performance how ever minute.
6. Tag names are no longer case sensitive.

Bug fixes:
1) Tag icons should now correctly be added and removed when adding a tag and the right icon. Note: To be 100% sure it works correctly you should add the icon to the icons folder before adding the tag to the video.

Bugs:
1. Because of several factors, some TV shows with many episodes (200+) might in rare cases not show for example the subtitle icons even though all episodes have them. This should be very rare though and a refreshing of the metadata with "replace existing images" enabled should fix it. For now it's not something that can be done much about, i will look into it later.
2. Because of the change to using Embys own resolution detection some videos that does not correctly state their resolution will not have it detected. This mostly happens for very old videos. I will look into using a mix of Embys and a reintroduced plugin detection later if this shows to be a problem.

No, not atm. at least.
I guess with the new background option i can put it back to how it was originally.

I cut the outline by half the in this one.

Noticed i made a small error in the resolution detection making some resolutions not be detected as they should.

A small question - would it be possible to integrate an option to display the rating? So if it is from 12 years or 16 display that?

I'm testing your new versions and I saw 2 things for now:

The preview isn't loading in the settings

And as far as I can remember: weren't the icons also showing on the smaller images on the frontpage within the libraries - I maybe wrong - I wanted to test it with the older version but as I don't know if that would mess up anything I prefered not to go back
Correction: When refreshing the collection/metadata the icons reappears - so maybe just a caching issue - I just saw it as I had a network issue (my Emby server looks for the movie files on a NAS) and one library had to be refreshed from scrap

And last but not least - for the icon from the rating - a bit larger I think would be better
You see - I took red as background so that it is more visible - some numbers are going slightly over the dot (with the square this isn't the case

The preview not working was me having pressed delete once to many when cleaning up the code. 
Many thanks for reporting it!! It should work in this version.

I have been looking into parental rating before, problem is there are so many different parental ratings and it would be hard to support them all.
I will add it to my todo list that i should look at it again, no promises it will be made.

Yeah the background for the rating isn't perfect.
I might need to make the font size a bit smaller to fit into the circle, i can't make the circle bigger as it would ruin how the scaling works on the icons.

Parental rating is difficult - I always adapted them on Plex to just have 1 version as I had the american ones, german and french ones that made a mess
I thought maybe somewhere out there is a database to have them all or it would be possible to simply get the info out of the nfo file or the Emby library and than display it as text just like the rating - but as I'm not a developer I don't really now what is possible - I do sometimes Web Dev but that's sometimes easier than the rest

Nice!  I will be a little more careful next time i clean up.

I removed the refresh icon button from the settings for now, it didn't work optimally so made it so people will have to restart the server instead when changing the icons in the folder.
I'm planning on reintroducing the button again when i have a better solution.

Getting the rating isn't a problem, it's having to be able to support all of them.
If i add one then people will understandably want the rating for their country as well, so i will have to add all of them. Afaik. some countries use symbols for their ratings so it would have to be icon supported as well.
It's ofc. not impossible, so i will look into it.
